Planned out the most incredible errands morning: we hitting the Whole Foods, the big Target, the Trader Joe’s with the hot guys, and dropping off dry cleaning. Might even get a workout in with an overpriced smoothie—as a little treat 😂

@TheStefanSmith Got the highest score on a test and was accused of stealing someone else’s paper and putting my name on it. Oh how about being forced to read Huckleberry Finn out loud and told to read the text as it was written. My mom handled that real fast when I came home in tears humiliated

I got 5s on all my AP exams and my history teacher waited until I was out sick to explain to the class I was only getting into the Ivy League because I was Black.

@TheStefanSmith GA should replace SC on the primary schedule either way.

If Clyburn’s seat is removed, Democrats should immediately announce South Carolina will lose its primary position. We should not boost my home state’s economy with preferred status if this is how we’re treated.

@TheStefanSmith It’s the wait your turn of it all while occupying space/gatekeeping that has left a void. The talented young people who were eager to learn and do the work and step in saw the writing on the wall and went elsewhere. His deciding to run even over his own daughter is selfish.

My greatest hits are chimp Creole, jambalaya, lasagna, Italian stuffed mushrooms, and the Thanksgiving meal (esp dressing, Mac & cheese, rice pilaf and sweet potato casserole) Also do great vegetarian versions of greens, red beans and rice that are just as flavorful as w/ meat

@PettyLupone I’ve been in my garden creating peace, finding joy. I’ll vote, I’ll financially support candidates I believe in but this ain’t my fight.

Anyway, I’m over political discourse. After 2024, y’all can have it. One thing I learned is that Black people SURVIVE the bullshit. So I can move right on along at the end of the day. Done arguing with folk. I’m changed. And my disposition is not only my liberty, but my peace.

Keith Porter Jr., a father of two, a son, and a brother, had his life taken by off-duty ICE agent Brian Palacios. His grieving family came together to demand the truth. We will continue to support Keith Porter Jr.’s family until they receive justice, transparency, and answers.

@TheStefanSmith And SC has a wealth of talented individuals who could pick up the reigns and do the work. My favorite was Bakari Sellers but I think he’s moved to NC.

As a Black man from South Carolina who works in politics, I can respect Clyburn’s legacy while also admitting it’s time to go. He broke so many glass ceilings but wants us to stand in the glass below him forever.

@TheStefanSmith It’s a problem even with politics at the local level: identity, greed and addiction to power are all at the root of that generation overstaying in positions. Then looking at Gen X and millennials complaining when we go the other way because we are tired of waiting.

What is unfolding in our immigration system today demands moral clarity and a courageous voice. Policies and practices that dehumanize immigrants, separate families, and deny due process fracture our shared humanity and move us farther from the just and compassionate society we are called to create. Creating the Beloved Community requires that we speak, act, and refuse indifference when human dignity is under threat. Love must be active. Justice must be demanded.
