I had a call with the Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas @araghchi . We discussed the situation in Iran and the spiralling escalation in the Middle East. Diplomatic solutions and de-escalation are urgently needed. I emphasized the need to end the strikes on neighbouring countries and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait Hormuz especially regarding the humanitarian aspect of global food security with a focus on fertilizers and other essential goods. Regarding the Iranian nuclear program Austria supports any diplomatic way forward that leads to a new agreement and full cooperation with the @iaeaorg . In times like this it is important to maintain dialogue.

Then, one gets reportedly downed in Southern Iran, and we finally see the ACES II ejection seat up close. ​It’s embarrassing. ​The ergonomics look worse than a "Ntebe y’ekitooke" carved by a village elder (Kitimoto in Swahili). Our grandparents were designing better, more stable three-legged stools for the kitchen while the Pentagon was spending billions on what looks like a scrap metal project from Musa Body University in Katwe. ​I pity those countries which pay for the "stealth" and the "sensors", but when it hits the dirt, you realize the backbone of the tech is just clunky 70s hardware with a premium price tag. If our Musa Body University in Katwe got just 1% of that R&D budget, we’d be on Mars by now. We can design a better seat for their jet fighters. We’ve been taught to worship the price tag, but the dirt doesn't lie. Is Western tech actually 'superior,' or just better at branding?
