Making math more accessible, enjoyable and inspiring for the next generation… As part of #InternationalDayOfMathematics activities, AKU’s Institute for Educational Development, East Africa hosted an engaging, hands-on learning event that brought together pupils from 8 schools from Dar es Salaam for a day of discovery, creativity, and problem-solving. Themed “Mathematics and Hope,” the fun-filled event which was organized in partnership with Young Engineers Tanzania had pupils explore mathematics through interactive activities such as bridge-building challenges, while developing creativity, teamwork and real-world problem-solving skills. The experience not only made math more accessible and enjoyable, but also inspired a sense of hope for its role in shaping the future. #IDM314 #InternationalDayOfMathematics

Stories of fear and women fighting to be heard have been hidden for far too long. Through her book, Dr Mutebi shines a light on these stories, reminding us that speaking up matters, knowledge can save lives, and silence should never cost a life. She was also recently recognized among The 100 Most Influential People in Oncology in 2025. Dr Mutebi’s work shows how one person’s journey can create hope and change for so many others.
