Excited to announce I’m joining the team at @trovexyz to lead community. The collectibles industry has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Trading Pokemon cards with friends in elementary school and looking excitedly through the full set of 1988 Topps baseball cards my father had organized in a binder are some of my favorite core memories as a 90s kid.
Watching two of my favorite industries collide over the last year has been incredible to see. The ability to buy, sell and trade valuable collectibles digitally, with the physical assets stored in secure vaults that you can redeem from at any time, is a massive game changer for an industry that’s historically been slow to innovate and plagued with counterfeits, shill bids, and deals that hinge on trusting a stranger.
Trove launched their iOS app last month with some really cool features right out of the gate (like 100% FMV buybacks for the first 2 minutes). The team is small but mighty, and they are true collectors at heart. The vision, however, is far from small. It’s innovative, aspirational, and exactly in my wheelhouse. Cards are just the start.
Mad respect for the other teams who’ve been trailblazing and bringing so much excitement to the space. Less than 1% of the estimated $300B collectibles market trades digitally onchain today. The opportunity is massive and we’re still in the 1st inning.
