Time of year that I typically reach out to check in on friends in the coaching world that are having a tough year. If you have been in that situation you understand the feeling. You feel so completely isolated and alone during those years and know that all eyes are on you. From anonymous player evaluations, parents in the stands, anonymous posts, administrative meetings behind closed doors, and the press. It’s awful. So if you have a friend that is coaching and the year has not been great let them know you are thinking about them. Those calls matter more than the ones saying “congratulations on a great year”

There's been an epidemic of ACL tears in girls soccer recently. On average, I see approx 2 ACL tears per team PER SEASON. In 4 years working with the RL South Girls at CISC, we had 4 ACL tears total in 24 seasons (6 teams x 4 yrs = 24 seasons). Here's how we did it 🧵

PSA to recruits: now that college coaches are in person, we can now see.. 1. Not high fiving teammates when you go to the bench 2. Eye rolls and back-talk to coaches and/or teammates 3. Not paying attention or cheering for teammates on the bench Being a great teammate matters!

@joshbednash One of the most underrated parts of the youth game. Incomplete throw-ins are nails on a chalkboard to me. I just a training activity with throw ins on both sidelines working through patterns of support, central &forward. Makes a difference! Thanks for sharing

75% of forward throw ins result in lost possession. The throw-in set pieces we use in the academy mainly follow the principles here. Deeper player blocking, with high player dropping into space and switching. Throw must be to safe side in order to go backwards.
