I hear you but it’s hardly a ‘bunch’ - it will be 1 more stroke and a much reduced chance of putting your ball in the trees on what it’s one of the tightest tee shots in golf. My first tee nerves are bad enough without having to hit a straight drive with $4 million or jail on the line. Playing in a regular Sunday comp or a casual round with your pals then, yeah, it’s 💯 a drive. But not with these high stakes & pressure off the charts. I’d probably still put my 8 iron in the trees to be fair 🤦🏻‍♂️

The key is the get the ball pin high as fast as possible, not play a bunch or irons, hoping you'll hit all of them well.

There is no way I'm hitting an iron off the tee. You may chunk and iron or two and are struggling. I'm pin high in two which gives me some cushion.
