✍️: I have signed the Healthy Early Development and Screen Time Act, limiting screen access in early childhood education facilities. This is commonsense legislation to make sure Alabama’s children are protected. #alpolitics

HB78, which limits screen time for children in publicly funded early learning centers, received a favorable report in Committee today. Now, it heads to the House floor. Let’s get this bill passed and help our youngest Alabamians in their key developmental days. #alpolitics

This morning, I received a warm, patriotic welcome from Gordo Elementary! I spoke with the older grades about being strong students and proud Americans. I popped into a Pre-K classroom, and even our youngest Alabamians are learning what it means to be part of the USA. #alpolitics

I will be appointing Ami Brooks to lead the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. Ami’s several years with the Department and her background as a Pre-K and kindergarten teacher make her exceptionally qualified to lead the agency. #alpolitics governor.alabama.gov/newsroom/2025/…

Alabama received millions of federal dollars to help pregnant women and families with prenatal care and postpartum support. The Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education received $8.2 million as part of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program. “Bringing home a baby can be stressful,” said Xavier Becerra, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in a press release. “Many new parents face additional challenges such as housing, or income insecurity, which can make the whole situation even more daunting. But we know from decades of research that home visits work – from helping with school readiness and achievement for children to improving health for women.” More details on this program at the link. 🔗: al.com/news/2024/08/a…
