@MichaelRosenYes I wouldn’t put anything past either of them. Also it’s well known that if you want to deflect from issues at home….start a war

Trump begs for help from other countries with Iran: 'This should be a team effort' rawstory.com/trump-iran-267… He doesn't understand that to have a "team effort," you have to build a TEAM. Not alienate every ally we've had for 80 years...

@tombennett71 RJ by definition means that both parties have to want the same thing. If one of the two (usually the student), is forced, it doesn’t work. I once came out of a session deeply upset after it was run really badly by the staff member in charge.

Restorative Justice, one of the worst system-level strategies you can imagine. I've lost track of the number of schools I have supported out of this well-meant but destructive model, where behaviour has spiralled out of control because boundaries have become meaningless. This article demonstrates exactly why, and how it happened in the US. It is a cautionary tale for the age. The extraordinary thing is how it was implemented so far and so fast with *almost no credible evidence to suggest that we should*. It was strategy based on vibes. 'This feels right.' It was also yet another triumph of education elites over education experts: no one in school was crying out for this. Nobody was saying 'please make it impossible for us to send students out, or reprimand them, or set boundaries, if they disrupt or harass their peers.' But that's what they got, and they were penalised if they didn't. RJ can be a useful tool. But it's closer to a glass cutter than a screwdriver; it's niche, not the default. educationnext.org/restorative-ju…

What a great idea from The Studio in Leeds. Would be brilliant to have this in school toilets.

It’s #InternationalWomensDay and I’m thinking about all the amazing women and girls in my life. Also the writers, artists, scientists, leaders and mathematicians. Thank you for your grace, humility and determination to make the world a kinder place.

On International Women’s Day, I pay tribute to girls and women everywhere who continue to fight oppression with relentless strength, with unbreakable courage. This strength and courage live within all of us. The power is in us.

I love this! I’m a firm believer in the power of books to provide aspiration and that children can see themselves mirrored in their reading material.

This #InternationalWomensDay we’re celebrating the power of diverse books at JCEH. 📚 Through stories, children discover inspiring women from different backgrounds, cultures and histories. Representation matters — every story helps children see what they could become. 💜

A great article. Verse novels are so important as a gateway for reluctant readers, especially in KS4. My favourite is One by the incomparable @SarahCrossan
Jon Biddle@jonnybid

My latest article for @NEUnion's Educate magazine is about verse novels. I explore how they help make reading possible for children who might feel overwhelmed by the amount of text on a page, why they work brilliantly as read-alouds & how they're helpful for developing empathy.
