@FilmJunkie82 @TyleZo @MendezMovieRPT Yes i know compared to the juggernaut that is LOTR, Dune is still much smaller in scope. But if this third film is really good, i could see it passing 1B$ at the box office and possibly winning BP. The Odyssey and even Hail Mary are already proving to be tough competition tho.

@ALisinavoid @TyleZo @MendezMovieRPT But LOTR was such a special case. 300M upfront(in 2001$) 3 films shot simultaneously released each yr, & it was a foregone conclusion that they were waiting til the last one to award the achievement. Everybody knew. Idk if Dune has the same feel to it, but it's certainly possible

@FilmJunkie82 @TyleZo @MendezMovieRPT But it absolutely did used to, Lord of the Rings: Return of the king, the third and final of that trilogy won like 11 Oscars including Best Picture. And im pretty sure that was the highest grossing film at the box office that year if not in top 5 for sure.

@AxelTalksFilm I mean, there was the original dune movies that came out in 1984, then in 2000 there was a 3 part mini series covering the first book, then in 2003 there was a mini series covering dune messiah and children of dune. So I’d say no, no you don’t.

@Capisha55 @Variety Yep you can tell how actor awards is so well paced now thanks to it being on Netflix, they even showed clips from rhe nominees which is a rare sight these days. It was such an old school award show that i hope Oscars can become too once it’s out of the ABC network trap.

Immediately you’ll see the sort of allotted time we have for them. Do we need to look at it and say, okay, designate one person to speak. Maybe you continue it backstage, and we have a feed on social or something like that." @Variety If the Oscar’s are moving to streaming next year, why keep the same rigid speech time limits as network TV? Instead of pushing winners backstage, maybe ask ahead how many people plan to speak & build that time into the show. Cutting speeches while keeping filler bits feels wrong.
