Discipline and professionalism remain fundamental values for all uniformed officers in the National Youth Service. Today, the Deputy Commandant General Operations and Logistics, Nicholas J. Makokha, officiated the NYS Drivers professional transport management course at NYS Camp Naivasha. The training brought together drivers from all NYS Camps across the country in line with the Commandant General’s directive on continuous retraining and capacity building for officers in critical service areas. The training seeks to strengthen professionalism, road safety awareness, discipline, accountability and operational efficiency among NYS drivers. The DCG emphasized that the drivers are a critical pillar in the delivery of Service operations and national assignments. He reminded the officers that every driver represents the image, values and standards of the Service and must therefore uphold the highest levels of discipline, responsibility and professionalism at all times. He further underscored the importance of accountability in the execution of duty, noting that officers must remain conscious of their actions while observing traffic regulations, safety procedures and ethical conduct in service delivery. The seminar is being expertly facilitated by trainers drawn from various Government institutions and partner agencies, including National Transport and Safety Authority, Automobile Association of Kenya and Kenya Red Cross Society, among others. #HudumaKwaTaifa

On 25th March 2026, a Grade 10 student from Braeburn Garden Estate International School in Nairobi went to the senate to do her school’s week-long voluntary service. Kind of like “take your child to work day” but for rich kids who go to the senate instead of going to watch their parents get yelled at in the secretarial job they despise. Karen Nyamu stood up to welcome the child and said, “Madam, welcome to the senate. And Mr. Speaker, probably you should have made it clear, which service to the senate she is offering, because I saw Honorable Senator Cherargei getting very excited, when she saw a lady…” For context, Karen Nyamu is a nominated senator as an affirmative action program to represent marginalized groups, specifically focusing on women's rights, youth empowerment, and social justice. Karen Nyamu is also an Advocate of the High Court, a mother of three and recently christened a Kikuyu woman elder. In a country driven by the rule of law, she would be out of her job and ejected from her political party. But clearly, when she speaks, she speaks for her government.

EACC ARRESTS KENYA POWER OFFICIAL OVER BRIBERY The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) yesterday arrested an employee of the Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) attached to the Mbale-Vihiga Office following investigations into bribery allegations. The suspect, Kennedy Wambani Oduor, was arrested following allegations of soliciting and receiving a Kes 20,000 bribe. The matter arose after God’s Vision for Africa in Vihiga reported a damaged and dangerous electricity pole near its premises in October 2022. Despite several reports made to KPLC, no action was taken, prompting the organization to replace the rotten pole through a private contractor to avert the risk of electrocution and fire. Investigations established that Mr. Oduor allegedly became agitated over the replacement and threatened to disconnect the organization’s power supply unless he was paid a bribe of Kes 50,000. The matter was subsequently reported to EACC, which commenced investigations. Following preliminary findings, the Commission mounted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspect while receiving Kes 20,000. Upon conclusion of investigations, the file was forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who approved bribery charges against the suspect under Section 6(1)(a) as read together with Section 18(1) and (2) of the Anti-Bribery Act, No. 47 of 2016. The suspect was booked at Kisumu Central Police Station and arraigned before the Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court on 7 May 2026. He was later released by the court on a cash bail of Kes 200,000 with a surety of a similar amount.

🚨 Missing Meru Teacher Known for Vocal Criticism of Local MP Found Dead in Nyambene Forest❗ Decomposed remains discovered hanging from a tree deep inside Nyambene Forest in Meru County last week have been identified as those of Fredrick Gitiye, a Biology teacher at Kindani Secondary School in Igembe South Constituency who had been reported missing since December 23, 2025, when he was last seen in Maua, bringing to a tragic end months of anguished searching by a family that had held onto hope he would be found alive. Gitiye, who was known in the region as a vocal critic of Igembe South Member of Parliament John Paul Mwirigi, the legislator who made national headlines when he was elected the youngest MP in the 12th Parliament, was found by a Kenya Forest Service officer whose routine patrol through the forest led to the discovery of remains that police say had been at the scene for several months, consistent with the timeline of his disappearance, with the body in an advanced state of decomposition, some limbs missing, and a piece of cloth tied around the neck.
