Carney's budget plan is a disaster. He will run higher deficits and add more debt than Trudeau. Carney has ZERO plan to balance the budget. Here are his deficits over next four years: 2025-26: $62.3B 2026-27: $59.9B 2027-28: $54.8B 2028-29: $47.8B That's $225B extra debt.

@Martyupnorth_2 This is a difficult concept for Canadians. (Math is hard.) CPP is a bad deal. I too would opt out if given the choice. Or make CPP (and OMG all pensions) defined contribution.

If I had opted out of the CPP 30 years ago, I'd have an extra $400,000 in my investment portfolio.

@chrisdoyle78 It seems too dense with 15 towers, and 90m (25+ stories) seems too tall. Scale back density & height and think a great idea! I don’t like Glenmore Landing parking & access now. This won’t help. But if Calgary grows by multiples in next 35 years density makes a lot of sense.

@AMDM00yyz I agree on transit safety being a top priority - mostly a C-train issue. I ride the max yellow fairly often (safe and busy these days). Haven't seen police on metro here during a week of riding it daily. Gated stations, and no apparent fentynal problem stand out as differences.

Currently visiting a very dense city in Euroland. It's just as I feared. The cafes and brasseries are packed with people bemoaning their terrible neighborhood character and cratering property values! #yyccc

@chrisdoyle78 Likely more similar than opposed. 1. Densify downtown (converted office towers, will it pay off?) 2. Make transit safe & convenient. (Max Yellow is a bust as no parking). 3. Appropriate densification in the “donut”, including Glenmore Landing. HOWEVER, we will never be Paris.

@FionaMattatall Thinking data is imprecise. June 2022, Calgary had 97.9k workers, increased to 121.9k in Jan’23 settled back to 101.2k in Dec’23. Edmonton had offsetting changes June’22 120.9k, decreased to 108.1k Jan’23 then increased to 124.4K in Dec’23. Sensational reporting isn’t helpful.

I don't make a lot of comments on here but this is bullshit. Being asked to save electricity in one of the coldest places on that planet that also happens to sit on one of the largest energy supplies in the world is insane. We should be one of the wealthiest most advanced societies in the world instead we are all sitting in the dark with our fingers crossed that heat stays on. We've gone backwards not forwards. End of rant.....
