@TolkienWorldG The Return of the King. A lot of good stuff in there, and it also has the Appendixes.

@Lordoftheringsu One does not simply fly into Mordor, especially when one is a flock of giant eagles and Mordor is populated by archers hungry for bird and a big eye-tower that spins round and round like a curious lighthouse...

Do you think The Lord of the Rings is, at its core, a Catholic story?

@dytolkienwisdom He understood that the 'good in the world that's worth fighting for' is created by men like him (a wife and some children to love, a simple home and a garden), so held on to that, which made him very wise indeed. He's not 'Samwise' by accident. ♥️

Perhaps Sam Gamgee’s most noble feature is his intrinsic motivation behind everything he did. He understood right from wrong and strove down the narrow path for its own sake. Whether anyone was watching or not, Sam wanted to do what his conscience told him. Despite his simplicity, he reconciled his simplicity with his intellect, creating amongst the strongest motives for noble behavior. It was through this virtue that he was able to reason his way out of keeping the ring and returned it to Frodo with relative ease.

@LOTR_Daily_ 'The Bridge of Khazad-dûm'; it's absolutely perfect. When I need inspiration, I put it on. The ending is heartbreaking.

@LOTR_Daily_ It was willpower, not physical strength that the ring had affected. It was sensing that it was close to its doom, so it was stopping Frodo. Sam was holding on to the Shire, while Frodo's mind was darkened, and he couldn't even remember the taste of food.
