My allegory of the cave moment, was when I stepped away from the social values everyone on this world promulgates, and realized I was part of a trash heap all along.

‘The Powerpuff Girls’ creator Craig McCracken has posted a touching tribute to Tom Kane along with an illustration of Professor Utonium and Mr. Harriman: “I grew up without a dad, so it was important to me that the girls had the best one I could give them and that was Tom.”

LaKeith Stanfield describes ‘I Love Boosters’: “You have never seen a movie like this before. I can confidently say that. There's nothing like this. And it's action-packed, funny, dramatic, crazy, zany, sci-fi-esque. But then at the center of it, too, there's a little message that I think is really quite beautiful, too. So you get everything you're looking for in this.” Via Collider

The Unknown reactions are here and…..yeah. NEON has one last bullet remaining with Fjord. Will that be their masterpiece? At his rate, my expectations are real low.

As much as I love talking and studying cinematography, I’ll be the first to say that a lot of y’all care about that shit way too much and use that as the only metric to judge film or television. Which is even more ridiculous when a lot of y’all don’t even know how to really analyze or critique cinematography. There are people on this app who will tell you Punisher One Last Kill is better than most MCU shows because it’s well shot (it’s not btw), disregarding works like Wandavision, Loki, or even Agatha that was doing far more interesting things with their cameras and use of color and contrast. People will tell you that Thor Ragnarok is one of the best looking mcu or superhero movies because it has a splash of rainbow colors everywhere, when it has the actual visuals of something belonging to the Mandalorian season 3 or Ashoka. Good cinematography isn’t about looking pretty. It’s about looking like something that has intention behind it and is in service of the story being told. I understand that after 10 years of grey sludge MCU we want to be more critical of how blockbusters (mainly superhero movies) look, but if we want to have those conversations on what is or isn’t good cinematography we should atleast actually educate ourselves on what we’re talking about. I apologize if I’m coming across as pretentious. I don’t know everything and I’m not trying to claim I do. I just think it’s better and arguably more beneficial to actually look deeper into these topics. Plenty of educated and experienced people out there willing to teach us.

HOPE? More like hopeless 😞 So far the reactions seem to be incredibly divisive with David Ehrlich even giving this a D+. Common complaints talk about the pacing and abhorrent vfx. Na Hong-jin may not have his moment at Cannes after all. Who will win the Palme now?

If you want to criticize Nolan's casting, go ahead. But at least stop with the nonsensical claim that he cast Nyong'o in order to make The Odyssey Oscar-eligible. It's objectively false. The Oscars' diversity standards can be met by films with casts that are all white, because crew, production and marketing staff, and even studio executives count toward the requirements. Oppenheimer, for instance, had a nearly all-white cast, but easily met the standards because it had women and people of color in key production roles, and Universal had a diverse marketing and distribution team. The same will be true of The Odyssey (which is also being distributed by Universal). Nolan cast Nyong'o because he wanted to, not because some Oscar standard required him to.

@AMalonje The premise did seem derivative but I was still curious to see how Kore-eda would put a spin on that but I guess it didn’t work out.

Early temperature on Sheep in the Box is very cold. Someone even described it as After Yang Part 2. Others described it as yet another Black Mirror episode. These kind of comparisons aren’t good, which is why I wasn’t confident in the film even if I’m still excited to see it.

You don’t know how it works. There are FOUR standards. A film must meet diversity TWO of them to be eligible for Best Picture 1. Cast, Story, Themes 2. Creative leadership, Crew 3. Industry access 4. Marketing/Publicity Emma Thomas is a producer, Jennifer Lane is an editor. That means Odyssey has already met Standard 2. Universal Pictures and has an internship program for underrepresented groups. That satisfies Standard 3. The Odyssey qualifies for the award without having anything to do with its cast.

Bong Joon Ho says "sh*t on me if you didn't like" #Mickey17, not the studio. "Director’s final cut was part of my contract and everyone at the studio and at my agency tried their best to protect me. Of course, during post production, there was lots of discussions and a lot of opinions going back and forth, but it wasn’t ever like someone was forcing something on me or giving me pressure. And so luckily, all my films have been released as my director’s final cut, even a movie as big as 'Mickey 17,' and all the good parts of that film and all the bad parts of that film came from me. I take full responsibility. So shit on me if you didn’t like it!" variety.com/2026/film/glob…

The Letterboxd ratings for Ryusyke Hamaguchi’s ALL OF A SUDDEN have poured in and it looked quite divided with the curve peaking at 3.5 stars. I expect a similar rating to FATHERLAND as more people log. So far, Cannes hasn’t been on fire. Can Kore-eda change things? I hope!

Backrooms is going to do NUMBERS, and once it does I hope it shows age and mass accomplishments don’t matter when making a feature… true talent and support for the director do.

I blame the ending of Game of Thrones for all of these subpar, half baked, weak ass endings we’ve been getting from shows that had a solid run initially. We need to break the curse 😭
