I don’t need an English address anymore than I need an English name. My address is my address, as is my name. Ridiculous that this nonsense still occurs in Ireland, in 2021; especially so given the fact we now have Eircode.

@dominicprice105 @timelesscolours The married woman is Úna Brennan (née Bolger) wife of Robert Brennan, whose shoulder she’s resting her hand on. Eileen Hegarty, Cork native, teacher and CnB member.

Hailed a taxi on Camden Street last Thursday night - no traffic and it was 40 quid to Clondalkin. It’s about time competition was introduced to stop them extorting people
Dean O Reilly@deanoreillyy97

I recently got a taxi from Donabate to Dublin airport with Uber and it was €14euro, I then got a rank taxi back to Donabate a few days later,He refused to go over 80kmh on the M1 and then tried to charge me over €30 for a 12minute drive. Uber stops us folk being ripped off 👍🏻

@Eireastrogen32 I’m old enough to remember the days when Dave was plying his trade with this shtick in Temple Bar. It was mortifying then and still is now!

Wee bump for this. New blog post coming this Saturday, which looks in detail at a single week when the sectarian violence got so intense that Belfast Catholics sent a despairing telegram to British cabinet ministers: "'Catholics being exterminated' - seven days in April 1922"
Kieran Glennon@DrNightdub

New blog post, which continues the story of non-republican nationalists in Belfast from mid-1921 until the end of the Pogrom, including attempts to encourage Catholics to join the Specials. "Constitutional nationalists: Part 2." thebelfastpogrom.com/2025/07/26/con…

@AMaonaigh @eolanryngsf Fairly sure FS Army census of Nov. 1922 didn't ask about prior military service - IRA, British Army or otherwise.

Did we have a Civil War in Ireland? Or a Counter Revolution?

@eolanryngsf Whatever they meant the above is awful way to go about communicating it. Notwithstanding the fact that the National Army was formed in 1922, not 1923 as per their post. Even pre 1923 formal legislation the force was referred to as the NA.

@AMaonaigh RMF history page. Presumably they mean early in the Free State Army formation. That Army went from about 3k to 7k, prior to CW, to 30k to 55k during CW up to 1924.

@MarqueeForward @StAnnes_GAA As skilful a touch it was, had he caught it he was in on goal. There’s less volleys as the option to catch and potentially earn a higher reward will always win out over a low percentage spectacular finish.

Just as Fr Dougal McGuire does with rollerblading, I get a great buzz off receiving the first copies of a book I wrote. My book on Laois and the Irish Revolution arrived in the post today from ⁦@FourCourtsPress⁩. Very happy with how it has turned out.

@qqv0310 @Pmjk1 @metoffice @CarlowWeather @IrishLights The following are not classified as wreck: - Boats which have come off their moorings are not classified as wreck, as they have not been abandoned without hope of recovery; and - Buoys (i.e. marker buoys, mooring buoys etc.) other than those which form part of fishing equipment.

(9) Jack Henry Francis (21) - Arsenal After struggling with injuries he was very impressive on loan with Sligo Rovers last season. The former Ireland U19 and U21 will be a player to keep an eye on in 2025. If Russell can tempt him back it would be an incredible coup.

(5) Cian Hayes (21) - Peterborough United The former Ireland U19 International is someone who has risen through the lower leagues in England. This season in all competitions he has 3 Goals and 3 Assists in 21 Games and 937 Mins. Plenty more to come from him too.

@Examineroftruth @sean_tougher English fans also support their local teams, and have done for over a century, whereas Irish fans export their support to England and then complain about the quality of the national team 🤷🏻‍♂️
