Had something happen over the weekend that hasn't happened in a long time. A server of mine got hacked, about five church websites (including our church website) are down while I setup a new server.
Not sure how it happened, I suspect I had a wordpress site on there at some point (which is basically malware) - but I'm going to be even more careful with this new setup.
Thankfully no data was lost.
@rynhayden 😢 Sorry to hear that! I often forget how blessed I've been to have parents who were saved and raised me in church and come to visit when we have a revival so they can go to church with us and be there to support their son.
I've only got my dad to sit under preaching one time, and it happened to be a pastor who had just been hurt by his church and just yelled at us for 30 minutes.
He's been visiting and told me he was coming Sunday, he even brought dress clothes, but then he got called home early.
Super excited he was going to come, bummed it didn't happen.
@TaraBull808 Thompson Chain Reference Bible (KJV version). If you are new to the Bible being able to use the Bible itself to help reference similar topics together and a dictionary for uncommon words is super helpful. There are also a lot of deeper studies in the back for when you want to dig
@matt_vanswol And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry...? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death. Then said the Lord, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night....
@churchcanvasai I'd love to integrate your service into this mix too if you had an API that clients could enter a API key and optionally automate generating a sermon graphic.

Designed for pastors who don’t preach from a manuscript. Even if someone else updates the site, this saves everyone time — and gives pastors freedom to follow the Spirit without worrying about outlines they’ll need to recreate later. ⛪✨
@rynhayden We used Panasonic Toughbooks at the Chevy dealership. A little heavy if I had to tote it around on a regular commute, but they were powerful and dependable.
I've been a mac user for 20 years. Recently, I switched my main laptop to a thinkpad that looks like it was made in 1995.
I think the thinkpad might be the perfect laptop. It isn't pretty. It's dated looking. But boy is it a pleasure to use.
A perfect keyboard, sensible button placement, built like a tank, you can lay the screen down almost flat.
(I'm running linux, so I'm talking about hardware and not software here.)
If you could use an API of some sort that was pre-built and you could easily extend it for your business logic and needs, would you use that instead of creating your own backend? If not, why not? If yes, what would be your core requirements?

@DaveMallinak I see this all too often in regards to Missions Philosophy and practice. Everyone wants to say how to fix the "problem" without actually having DONE anything to fix it to have the experience to back up their words.
If a church believes they should send a missionary to evangelize and plant churches, they should provide all of his essential financial support. Other churches who believe in his work can supplement. That would keep him from having 50± masters, and give him a true furlough.
Created a little script that works anywhere on my computer where if I start a string with -- and end with ;; and put any kind of Bible reference in between, it will put a markdown formatted Bible verse in that place.
@_devJNS@HL7 starting from the subcomponent level and working broader to the message structure adding context along the way. HL7v2 developers are a quickly aging group and we need replacements who are knowledgeable with deep context to help advance interoperability

What would you like to learn?
I don’t have time to do everything myself, but I don’t have time not to teach others. I need to find people to replace me and offload services and even paying tech work onto….
So what tech kind of things would you like to learn from me?
