RC model aircraft LiPo packs, failed after 2-3 seasons after high C charging. List goes on. Mobile phones after 3 yrs

Being recycable is not the same as being recycled.

@JulesBywaterLee @7Kiwi And as someone who has been using lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries for a long time I can assure you their longevity is not what you imagine it to be, even with the cleverest battery management system.

@ANCTILADutiO @7Kiwi batteries are mainly aluminum and copper the graphite is junk- there is not enough lithium rate for full scaled plants because batteries last so long sodium ion is growing as for wind turbine blades in volume there is more chewing gum discarded each year [a long lasting plastic]

@JulesBywaterLee @7Kiwi There is no extraction going on at proper industrial scale, Lithium ion batteries are very difficult to deal with. We have chosen the worst possible battery chemistry to both safety and sustainability. Just like windmills-blades go to landfill, concrete left in the ground.

@s_jhs96 @7Kiwi Stop conflating GW with GW/h. It shows you know nothing at all. Assuming we have a dunkleflaut like most years, to take up the slack to you would need 30-40 GW for 10-14 days. That would be a battery plant the size of the southwest of England.

So there's this neat thing called Batteries, where you produce more than you need at one point and then release it into the grid when its needed. Thus making arguments like this seem as stupid as they actually are.
