For context, I’ve held bitcoin longer than many of you have known the spelling.
I’ve done more research and written more papers on BcT in Africa, than most of you have read.
I have an actual degree in Blockchain Tech and Digital currencies - not the online diplomas you freely pluck anywhere these days.
I have worked with several entities and developed quite a few BCT Based solutions in the last decade.
…but because I’ve post little-to-nothing on that, I should let those who have actually “made it big in web3” confuse the rest of the region because they were able to make a few bucks off Memecoins??
What’s actually going on? Why this tweet really trigger una like this?🤷🏽♂️

ALAT, launched by Wema Bank in 2017, is Nigeria's first fully digital bank, allowing users to open accounts, get loans, save, and transfer funds entirely online without branches. This early pivot to digital banking amid Nigeria's fintech boom has paid off—ALAT won Nigeria's Best Digital Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards, driving customer growth and innovation in a competitive market.

@olumidecapital That early bet on digital banking really set them apart.

@FinPlanKaluAja1 The most important tweet I dey wait for. I doubt I ll see that tweet. This whole Inlaw connection dey give me bad vibe
English

@ejiroJR @FinPlanKaluAja1 Hmmmmm just did a rough estimate
It's not cheap at all

@FinPlanKaluAja1 I laugh at foolish people, please they should go and ask the cost to do dynamic compaction on 2,600 hectares of land alone.

“Dangote fails when there is competition”
The question is, why is there no competition?
Suppose you saw an opportunity to have a monopoly on selling Arsenal jerseys. Would you walk away because “there is no competition,” or would you sell your Arsenal trophy cabinet and then invest in this new opportunity?
Today, no company can meet Nigeria's demand for these products
Flat steel
Wheat
Animal feed
Fresh fish
Local
Personal computers
Smart phones
Polyester yarns and fabrics
Polymers
Where are the billionaires who are negotiating with foreign partners to produce flat steel in Nigeria?
Maruha Nichiro Corporation is the largest fishing and seafood company in the world by annual revenue. Has any Nigerian billionaire gone to them to partner and process fresh fish for the Nigerian market?
But I bet you my lunch money that if Dangote says he wants to buy the Ajaokuta steel and make flat sheets, there will be cries of monopoly
Instead of focusing on the person investing IN Nigeria, why is there no focus on those investing outside of Nigeria?

@FinPlanKaluAja1 The unions are the reasons 10 banks have collapsed in the last 12 years.

@Morris_Monye @ugoo_UFO Well @Morris_Monye that has been my primary line for years now. It's actually annoying sometimes the network can be. But they still try small
English

@ugoo_UFO I honestly don’t remember when someone gave me a 0805 or 0815 number

I don’t remember seeing anyone use Glo
Yet they have so much adverts.
Osaretin Victor Asemota@asemota
Globacom is a case of "Do you want to be richer than Kings, or do you just want to remain King?" There is no seriousness about challenging and winning the competitors as their market share is dwindling. Ideally, he should just sell it, but he won't. They have a national license!!

@OneJoblessBoy Clearly, he didn't follow the guide to buying shares:
1. The right companies
2. The right time
3. The right price
If you get the three right, hold it long enough for compounding to do its thing.

"I would mention banks, there's nothing they can do. I bought for 36 million Naira First Bank at 36 Naira per share, it fell to 12 Naira. I lost that.
I went and borrowed 60 million Naira in 2005 or 2006 from Sterling Bank to buy Skye Bank shares, it fell from 14 Naira to 2.50 Naira; washed away. Sterling Bank showed up in our office with 4 policemen to come and collect their money. I had to look for that money within 2-3 months.
The same Skye Bank who loaned me money when we were building a house, showed up in our church. Their risk manager came with about 10 staff to our service...
I bought GTB for something like 18 Naira, GTB fell to 3.60 Naira..."

@omoelerinjare He has to graduate from accounting so his Delloite and Mobil accountant lies will rhyme. Am telling you as a former liar. If I lie ask Ngelielie

@ose_anenih @FinPlanKaluAja1 You cut out only 1:33. You could have at least taken it to 3 - 5 mins.

If Atiku become President he would have
1. Removed PMS subsidy
2. Floated Naira
If Obi become President he would have
1. Removed PMS subsidy
2. Floated Naira
Why?
The treasury is empty
Removal of subsidies is not a destination but a necessary requirement to staying afloat
The error Tinubu has made is how he has implemented the removal of subsidies.

The problem with threads on Twitter is that many Nigerians don’t read beyond the first tweet. I am very worried about this sometimes. I try to make it as generic as possible to spark more curiosity but nah! They respond largely to the first and don’t get the rest.
Osaretin Victor Asemota@asemota
Moniepoint did Nigerian transactions of $53 billion in Q1 2023 but those transactions weren't done in dollars. They were done in Naira the local currency. I am sure that they were using the old official conversion rate. Even if they use the current unified rate, it is a lot of 💰
