Trump Always Chickens Out. Donald Trump just cancelled a high stakes meeting in the Oval Office with myself and Leader Schumer. The extremists want to shut down the government because they are unwilling to address the Republican healthcare crisis that is devastating America.

Just since this article posted this AM, @EnergyCommerce Dems have put Rs on the record again against release of the files @EdWorkforceDems forced GOP to recess and abruptly pull a bill from markup to avoid a similar vote These guys will really do anything but release the files

The only people who “didn’t try” is @axios. This is lazy and intellectually dishonest take. The bill was met twice in the House with unified democratic opposition on both votes (not that this story mentions it - inconvenient fact when the goal is to distract and divide).

To recap that House vote series - republicans are in lockstep in keeping the Epstein files secret to cover up corruption, but in disarray over their own self-declared “crypto week” and now in an unscheduled recess 🤷‍♀️

Hakeem Jeffries: “I feel the obligation Mr. Speaker to stand on this House floor and take my sweet time.” He’s actively delaying final vote on the budget bill, giving Americans more time to call their representatives.

Jeffries says he's going to "take my sweet time" with his magic minute floor speech, as he hits the 1 hour and 15 minute mark. Magic minutes allow leadership to talk for as long as they want. Jeffries railed against the lack of debate for the bill.

Jeffries: By some estimates, more than $500 billion in cuts to medicare as a result of the Republicans' one big ugly bill. This bill will also result in a devastating blow to the affordable care act. And as a result of the damage that's done to the affordable care act in this legislation, millions of Americans will lose their health care

Jeffries: I've heard a lot from my Republican colleagues who have expressed pride in this accomplishment. I ask the question if Republicans were so proud of this one big ugly bill, why did the debate begin at 328 AM in the morning?

Do not fall for this bothsides-ism. The entire point of the bill is to deal with expiring tax provisions. GOP is actively choosing NOT to extend credits that people rely on for coverage. We are debating how many MILLIONS of people will lose healthcare. Let's not lose the plot.
