Student loan defaults have hit record highs, and the Big Ugly Bill is going to aggravate this trend. As a member of the Education and Workforce Committee, I’m fighting against these harmful Trump Administration policies that are worsening the economic distress that a large swath of Americans, particularly the younger generation, are experiencing.

I’m proud of my work alongside Republican colleagues to create and support family engagement centers which work to meaningfully integrate parents and guardians in their children’s education. Today in @EdWorkforceDems, I spoke out against the Trump Administration’s efforts to move family engagement centers out of the Department of Education – a move opposed by every reputable education and civil rights organization. For the sake of students and their families, I urged my colleagues to oppose this move and the Administration to change course.

Everyone deserves access to quality health care. We cannot address our nation’s care shortage without understanding the social determinants of health that impact outcomes. We must stay committed to expanding access for everyone and not restricting it.

We have a healthcare system where Black patients are too often ignored, misdiagnosed, and denied care. Black doctors save lives. Culturally competent care saves lives. We can't afford to lose that just because conservatives are uncomfortable with diversity.
