Last Friday we had an amazing whirlwind of a visit from Academy of Exploration @AOESPS - 136 students rotated through 6 stations to complement their unit on engineering. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting these great students and their teachers and chaperones!

Science on a Saturday?!?!?! 🥼🧪👩‍🔬 AOE Students rocked our FIRST Science Olympiad competion @MissouriState They competed in toothpick towers, water filtration, leaf ID, egg drop, and estimania. We took home several awards and had a blast! @officialSPS #STEM

Our major unit project is a 60 second commercial to showcase the non-profit organizations we’ve been working with for the last few weeks. Today, we got advice from expert Mr. Jim of Plotline Film (another @CityofSgf non-profit!) on how to make the best videos! 🎬💻 @officialSPS

Our @rescueone_sgf group bagged outreach food to help pet owners in the community continue to feed their pets when times are tough.

Our Engage unit has us engaging with our community in new-to-AOE ways and we are having a blast! Today, two groups visited DCO and @rescueone_sgf for the 2nd time to do service projects. Weeding, sanitizing shared spaces & play equipment were on the agenda for DCO. @officialSPS

Using the design process, students were tasked with creating a device to launch a marshmallow as far as possible. After the first test, students made improvements & tested again. After they found success, we tried launching progressively larger marshmallows. Today = testing day!

Today we completed our first STEM challenge of the year: Wicked Water Slide! 💦🛝 We failed! Spectacularly! And we loved every moment of it! Our Lego mini-figs made it down the slides, some a little more safely than others 😮‍💨 @officialSPS
