Open a dialogue with your student athletes. Just today I’ve heard from two students involved in different sports who don’t feel safe or welcome playing at @Bolivar_Schools OR @ReedsSpringHS. Unfortunately, these instances of racism are clearly not one-off events. Do 👏🏼 better 👏🏼

At the age of 16, we have CHILDREN who have said if they got mad every time they experienced racism at @MSHSAAOrg events, they would always be mad. Once an @officialSPS kid, always an SPS kid. It’s on us look out for these students AND to make it clear racism is NOT tolerated.

Today I learned that my @officialSPS former students have been REGULARLY experiencing blatant racism at away game for various @MSHSAAOrg events. Last night @LiberatorsNOW students told black SPS students they couldn’t sit in a specific place b/c they’re black. I’m disgusted.

Board member Danielle Kincaid said words have meaning and all @officialSPS should feel welcome on schools.

It’s cooking day! We analyzed everyone’s solar oven designed, combined all the best parts and ended up with this construction. Pizza was placed at 9:00am. We will be checking at the top of every hour. Our class hypothesis: the cheese will be warm but not melted.

Editing writing today, so we wanted to get extra practice identifying misspelled words, missing punctuation, & proper capitalization. Played a @quizizz in teams mode while in @Zoom breakout rooms working together. This was so much fun!

How cool is this? We’re learning about mixtures & solutions. This @fueledbylaunch student took the vocab card assignment up a notch by labeling her lunch! Just because we’re virtual learners doesn’t mean we only exist inside a virtual world!

Another perk of being a @fueledbylaunch teacher: Apparently word got around @westportcats 8th grade today that if you go waaay back in your Canvas messages (to Feb 2019), you can reply to Ms. Robbins—& she’ll respond! 😂 It was fun catching up with my 5th graders 3 years later.

Today my fifth graders are putting the finishing touches on a student written, produced, directed AND hosted video recapping our school year! Inspired by @CNN10 that we watch every morning, this video has been the MOST fun to watch these kiddos create together. @fueledbylaunch

Big things are happening! My kids are almost ready to share their 5th grade recap with friends and family tomorrow!
