Another expert report finds Israel is committing genocide. Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, and Medecins Sans Frontieres are all agreed. But the West yawns as the Gaza genocide is now just another routine news item, buried on the inside pages middleeasteye.net/opinion/gaza-i…

@JBezivin The focus is in having as much as possible ready-to-hand tools (in the sense of Heidegger), minimizing accidental complexity and reducing the cognitive load.

I am glad to announce that we will deliver the Tutorial "Building Advanced Modeling Workbenches with Jjodel" at the MODELS conference in Linz on Sept 22nd. It took us 5 years to have a mature release of Jjodel, a cloud-based collaborative modeling platform #models24 #jjodel #swen

@JBezivin Hi Jean, it has a pretty different architecture than LSP, most of the intelligence is on the clients/browser because we use react/redux that is used also for the concrete syntax. Hope you are doing well!

@1KlausSchmid I could not express it better. I fully agree. What I find interesting is that understanding abstraction for students mitigates their attitude to be inclined towards the aesthetic of “complicated”, it making things unintelligible for the other to prove their capabilities :-)

@APierantonio .. I found, even if people can create SW: understanding the breadth of abstractions and paradigms that have been created in PL are very useful to learn. We found in our work on DSLs that Ph.D. people often lacked this breadth, and without it had trouble designing languages.

Thinking so as well. Current lecture programming languages: a tour de force of various languages.
Paul Graham@paulg

@rickasaurus The best way to understand programming languages would probably be to learn both extremes: assembly and Lisp. The stuff in between is all compromises anyway.

@shukat_ali It was just a short one with a few vertical meters to start the season, but it was great to feel the rocks under my fingers again! And you typically have a great view.

So I accidentally used my canadian SIM card when I landed in switzerland. Time to react and activate the European one: 1 minute. Data usage: 8mb. Cost? $70+tax.
