VicPD remains fully committed to protecting the right to peaceful, and safe protests, and recognizes that demonstrations are an important part of a democratic society. This decision is not about the cause of the march; it reflects the wellbeing of our members and the responsible stewardship of limited policing resources. Over nearly two and a half years, VicPD has provided sustained support to these marches, which have continued for more than 127 weeks and required more than 10,000 hours of police resources.
