@shaindelr This sounds like the setup for a Halloween version of Home Alone. Secretly, all of these pumpkins contained valuable jewels and are part of an elaborate smuggling operation.

Ummm... Someone is taking pumpkins off people's porches and leaving this note? What? Some people are saving these pumpkins to roast the seeds or to plant the seeds or to feed to their livestock :-/

I had to make a decision on which Shakespeare play, out of all of them, to gift a friend who hasn’t read him recently. I landed on Macbeth. I think this means in my estimation, as a professor who’s devoted her professional life to Shakespeare—Macbeth is his best play.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Jane Austen died on this day in 1817. In her too short 41 years on this planet, she wrote six of the greatest novels in the English language, laid the groundwork for the modern romance, and gifted us with some of the best quotes ever. Pour one out for Jane today.

Now that everything is officially sent in, I am VERY honored to share that my uni selected my PhD dissertation to submit for a national award 🥰 I don’t expect to win, but it’s an honor to have been chosen (& to get a few extra eyes on my research on medieval women’s faces 😉)

@EliMcCann Babies need short texts with pictures, so it’s never too early to start through all of Franz Kafka.

My husband is really stressed about which book we are supposed to read to our baby, who is nine weeks old and can't quite lift his head up.

Welcome to the world’s newest Ponca, Cheyenne, Oglala Lakota and Otoe Indian—my sister’s newborn son! I suggested they call him Šé’p’ahąga (SHAY-PAH-hone-gah) which is the Ponca term for a first born son until he gets his real name at a traditional Indigenous naming ceremony!

I was just thinking about how interesting and cool it is that Kansas pulled from Ecclesiastes to write Dust in the Wind, and of course The Byrds did too for Turn, Turn, Turn. What are some other secular bands that have drawn inspiration from the Bible?

@JennMGreenberg “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones is actually based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s “The Master & Margarita,” but I think it’s Jesus-y enough to count here.
