@SeanMBurns Thank The Social Network for that. It basically spearheaded the muted digital cinematography look (and the trailerfied popular song trend in movie trailers). It worked there but it got so overdone that it's now the default way movies look unfortunately.

Why do movies look like this now? They used to be in color.

Every revolution begins with a reckoning. The Social Reckoning, a companion piece to The Social Network, is coming exclusively to theatres October 9.

@IceColdFilm I'm also just not sold on Jeremy Strong here (or in general). He loves doing voices and stuff, certainly nailing Zuckerberg's manner of speaking. But I always feel like he's trying way too hard. I can't take him seriously

@AReedMTG Rare to see someone get progressively worse at it. Molly’s Game being his best, Trial of Chicago 7 being a fine but bland courtroom drama and then Being the Ricardo’s being Being the Ricardo’s. You don’t have to be good at everything. It’s ok to stay in your lane.

I’m imploring him to stop directing.

@TMROJ Every year we run a centrist Democrat and they lose. As a Mainer who has grown up with Susan Collins in the senate for almost my entire life, it's time for a new approach.

@SureZher The Light that Dwells in Rotten Wood is their masterpiece imo. But I like all their records, my hometown heroes

I hated Talk To Me, Barbarian, and Obsession for similar reasons and they all have the same feel and hollowness, so yes 100%

New horror movies are the indie equivalent of superhero movies—and just as boring and repetitive and factory made.

Being disappointed by Backrooms got me thinking about films that more successfully tap into analog and liminal existential horror, at least for me. Films that better capture the dread of being trapped in nothingness, the uncanniness of identical, sterile artificial spaces hiding uncertain dangers, or fragmented narratives that genuinely feel like nightmares: Vivarium, Skinamarink, Inland Empire, and Cube.
