Humble Permissionless farms! We'll set up ours with 225M APF and 1000a rewards asap! Stay tuned for the announcement 📢

Hey #algofam, here are my person thoughts on discussions around creating a fund to repay victims of the recent myalgo exploit. I personally wish that every single victim will be made whole in time, but I wanted to bring up something that folks might not be considering. Until there is a lot more regulatory clarity in the #blockchain space, it's important for ecosystems to protect themselves by removing all potential vectors of regulatory attack. This is important, because if rushed emotional responses end up leaving #Algorand to regulatory attack in the future, then no one wins. If Algos were ever labeled an unregistered security in the future, it would no longer have any on or off-ramps in the USA. If people think the price is low now, wait until they see what can happen to price when there is a large sudden loss of demand. Here is a list of potential options that I've seen people talk about, which I've labeled (in my opinion and experience gained from working with lawyers on stuff at @lofty_ai) from the most risky to the least risk. 1. Having the @AlgoFoundation create a fund to make victims whole. This is the most risky option, because it's very easy for regulators in the future to claim that $algo has an expectation of profit from the efforts of a centralized party. All it takes is for a few people to claim that they only bought algos because they saw the foundation stepping in to make victims of a hack whole, which made them feel that $algo was a safer investment relative to others. 2. Having large ecosystem VCs or companies create a fund to make victims whole. This is a safer option as long as the ecosystem VCs don't have direct ties to Algorand Inc or the foundation. 3. Having $algo owners vote in a governance proposal to redirect governance rewards to a fund to make victims whole. This is a significantly safer option, because it showcases the decentralization argument, which is that owners of $algo used their utility tokens to vote on redirecting governance rewards.
