In a 10-year cohort of 695 patients with metabolic dysfunction, progression in the FIB-4 fibrosis score was associated with a 106% higher risk of myocardial infarction 🫀! Serial FIB-4 may help identify higher CV risk. @FcoIdalsoaga Very interesting. 🧐

DOI: 10.1097/HC9.0000000000000414 This suggests that hepatology evaluation during inpatient treatment of AUD may lead to decreased rates of early return to alcohol use !!🧐🧐

What if one inpatient consult could change the next 6 months? Hepatology evaluation during inpatient AUD treatment was associated with a 25% absolute reduction in return to drinking at 26 weeks (45% vs 70%).🗣️ Great work by @BlaneyMD 👩‍⚕️ #ASRG_Liver #Hepatology #AUD

AAH! Steroids? Used routinely by many, but not consistently worldwide. Early liver transplant? Commonly accessible in the US/Canada… far less elsewhere. Reminder: AUD meds at discharge are still the exception! Where you live may determine what care you get. @BlaneyMD

It is 2026. Can we please stop “correcting” the INR in patients with cirrhosis? Disheartening to sometimes see this advice still coming from community GI. Our societies have been working to change this with guidance in recent years—but we still have more work to do. 🚫FFP

As a transplant hepatologist focusing on 🍸, I am disturbed to see the irresponsible guidelines & comments made by @DrOz on alcohol use. Rather than 🙌 alcohol as a social lubricant, we should focus on building confidence to connect w/ others wo🍸 & forming healthy coping skills

@LuisAntonioDiaz Brief intervention 🗣️: Often 5–20 min, 1–3 sessions. Start with brief advice, escalate to tailored counseling, and refer when risk is higher. Small time investment, 🤏⌛️ big clinical leverage. 👍

AUD is a brain disease 🧠—and in liver clinics it’s also one of the most treatable drivers of ALD progression. The question isn’t “Should we treat AUD in liver disease❓ ” It’s “How do we do it safely and consistently ⁉️” because AUD treatment is liver care!! 🚩 #ASRG_Liver
