@JustTeddii Why is Epic not talking about the lag ???
Just tried 1 more game (2 in total this season) and its laggy as hell
English

I’m going to go ahead and say how I feel.
This is just my personal opinion but from what I have seen, I feel the Fortnite team have made a season where, on reflection, Season 2 will be considered a top 5 of *ALL TIME* contender when it’s over.

Any idea when the lag will stop
I had 1 game and i stopped playing br The game lags. If someone joins your lobby you lag in game. If someone spectates you from the lobby after the join lag then you lag we wanna play but its so frustrating
English

@duos_with_dad You have done this in a day which is the biggest optimization trick going if you ask me. Well done for real man.
English

@AT_ASHTAG This extracts them from the files and then imports them.
Them giving us that as a tool would be them giving us full access to all their assets.
I can see why they wouldn't.
English

I’m excited to finally share what I’ve been building all day!
UEFN Magic Mesh
This is a personal tool I built to improve my optimization workflow inside UEFN.
It scans your project, detects all Static Meshes, and gives you real data, including how many instances of each mesh you’re actually using.
Now here’s where it gets interesting.
Before this, if I wanted to use ISMs to replace Fortnite assets, the workflow was time consuming.
Find the asset → export → open in UE → migrate → reimport → then finally use it
Not anymore!
With Magic Mesh, I can take actors in my project and instantly export and import those meshes straight into my Content Browser, organized and ready to go.
From there, replace → convert → harvest into ISMs
The entire workflow just got cut down to minutes.
This is the kind of tooling that actually makes optimization even more enjoyable for me.
And this is exactly the type of workflow I would have covered in an ISMs and Optimization talk at Unreal Fest.
It’s not too late to rethink that talk!
@FNCreate @EpicGames
Curious what you think about this tool,
@TimSweeneyEpic @MarkRein
And seriously, thank you for building the tools that make stuff like this possible
English

@duos_with_dad but then thats like saying they should block you from doing this ??? makes no sense. I have a game with a ton of bushes thats a bpp i cannot optimize through HISM due to not having the sm version. They wanna make us do games for mobile but not give us the tools to optimize.
English

@duos_with_dad That's cool well done dude. I might have to create one. Why didn't epic make this for us so long ago 🤬
English

@duos_with_dad so if you have a Fortnite bush bpp for example it can get the static mesh from that 🤔
English

@AT_ASHTAG What do you mean?
This pulls all static meshes from the project, including ones used by devices and other actors.
It detects the static meshes on actors or Fortnite blueprints, then grabs those meshes and imports them into the Content Browser.
English

@duos_with_dad i see your point but i would welcome epic making a handful of these modes and blocking any other versions it'd clean the system up for sure.
English

None of what you mentioned became what it is today without creators building it, iterating on it, and pushing it forward.
This isn’t about supporting those creators or those modes.
I just refuse to pick and choose what’s acceptable to take from creators, because once that line gets crossed, it stops existing.
English

This sets a precedent that is unsettling.
Epic’s recently announced new mode is essentially a direct ideation of the UGC created Box Fights genre, a format that became popular because of the creators who built it.
As creators, we already deal with the constant tension of putting time into something, only to watch it get cloned, often with little to no enforcement of Epic’s own rules.
Guideline 1.6 clearly states:
Be Original. Don’t copy, duplicate, or reproduce other creators’ work.
Yet we constantly see cloned versions of popular maps not only slip through, but sometimes get promoted in Discover by Epic.
So creators are already dealing with:
- Their work being copied
- Clones competing directly with them
- Clones receiving visibility boosts
Now the concern isn’t just other creators copying ideas, it’s Epic stepping in and doing it themselves.
So where is that line actually drawn, and who enforces it?
If Epic can take a format built and proven by UGC creators and turn it into an official mode, what does that signal to the rest of the ecosystem? Does that mean anything we build is fair game once it gains traction?
Creators are already dealing with clone maps, recycled ideas, and a lack of protection. This adds another layer of uncertainty.
Sure, we can say “it’s just Box Fights.”
But let’s be real, this mode doesn’t exist without UGC creators pushing it first.
So the question becomes, are we building in a system that supports and protects creations, or one where we prototype ideas that eventually get turned into official modes while clones get promoted alongside them?
It’s disappointing to see @EpicGames and @FNCreate heading in this direction.
Because right now, this feels like a step in the wrong direction, not just for Box Fights creators, but for anyone trying to build something in this space.
Please rethink this approach and/or involve the creators behind these practice maps.
I find it hard to believe this fully reflects what you want for the creator ecosystem, especially given your stance on fairness in the industry, @TimSweeneyEpic. All I ask is that you take a moment to reconsider this and the optics it creates moving forward.

New Mode. Arenas. April 9.
English

@duos_with_dad I think your look at this backwards. Epic should create all the basic modes ie 1v1, boxfights, red vs blue ect and block any other person from creating them. This would make the ecosystem have games instead of copies of all of these modes. The revenue that epic make from these...
English

@GraemeBullX I spawn many prefabs and i have a slight tps drop but i feel the new vm hopefully tomorrow should solve this. Entities have less baggage than bpp i think but have the odd bug currently :( Also cnt be damage yet
English

@FNCreate @UlsanKropee Please start banning the creators and put something in place to find alternate accounts.
English

@UlsanKropee Hey @UlsanKropee. Even though enforcement for 1.9.1 kicked off last week. We know there’s more work to do here, and we’ll also introduce new tooling in the coming weeks to prevent spam islands from being published in the first place.
English

From my perspective, these IP Islands seem kind of pointless for creators, and more as advertising for the brands we're making content for- but we get a cut taken for it. Bad actors will still create borderline violations in other tabs and main Discovery, with characters or various weapons from popular media, and keep their fill.
I'm really hoping this one has something unique or different about how the IP Islands will be handled. The other ones sort of just got flooded with garbage pretty quickly, and there's no real incentive to compete with it- especially with the percentage cuts you'll end up taking anyway.
As with the others, I'm sure it'll be great at first, but then fatigue will settle in and the tabs will slowly die off. Although, with it being something as popular as Star Wars, it may just keep up numbers. Maybe more consistent updates of what we get from the toolset from the IPs would help, or even being allowed to merge different IP Islands.
Anyone else feeling this way? Just me...?
Fortnite Developers@FNCreate
That’s no moon… it’s a toolset?!
English

@FNCreate @Fortnite @FortniteStatus @TimSweeneyEpic @JustTeddii You will end up with the entire tab being the same maps and the tab will stop being a place for players to find new content. Just have a 1 week test and ensure no default island maps may participate. See the results. I'm tired of the same type of maps all over Fortnite.
English

@FNCreate @Fortnite @FortniteStatus @TimSweeneyEpic @JustTeddii
I just wanna say this...
Sponsored row is good in theory. For small creators who are creating new innovative experiences that have real potential to bring something new to the ecosystem it is a very powerful Part 1

English

@FNCreate @Fortnite @FortniteStatus @TimSweeneyEpic @JustTeddii suffering due to this type of behavior. Something needs doing here. You can argue it brings money back into the ecosystem but this does not mean its accepted. With this new method and the ability to have in island transactions this is now being abused. Part 3
English

@FNCreate @Fortnite @FortniteStatus @TimSweeneyEpic @JustTeddii Tool but this is being overrun by creators in the same few type of map ie 1v1, rvsb, boxfights. There needs to be some thinking behind this tab. The price keeps going up and up due to these actors competing to promote the same few types of maps and the little guy is part 2
