Gamers: Do you enjoy when developers put social media “influencers” in video games? Don’t care? Or does it bug you?
For me it temporarily breaks the immersion of the game I’m in but it’s not a deal breaker overall.
I feel it’s done to draw in younger gamers so eh?

I haven't purchased a ton of new third party games because I've been tackling my backlog, but when a game isn't launching day 1 on Ps4 or Switch 2 I'm typically more interested in supporting it because it means they prioritized higher-end hardware. 007 is a good example of that.

They're wrong about 007: First Light
The anti-woke crowd is sometimes just as bad as the wokies we protest.
I've played over 5 hours of 007: First Light, and here's my thoughts.
After being boxed around from DEI politics in the past years, we're all so damn tired of DEI initiatives in gaming. Me included.
So much so to the point where many people see race swapped characters and it's an instant cancel. I get it, though. Nobody wants Black Snape.
Was I put off at first with BlingPenny and Pakistani M?
Yup.
And then I played the game.
And being a Bond fan, this game delivers a true Bond experience.
This isn't soy boy Bond like I thought it would be. This Bond fucks and is a certified badass.
I think doing an original Bond story is wildly refreshing.
Sean Connery is the true Bond and Pierce Brosnan is the coolest Bond -- what else can you do?
What the writers did was deliver a unique story...the origin of 007.
Pressured by the shadowy DEI initiatives that plagues the gaming industry (and will sadly continue to do so), the writers haven't let that seep into the elements past the casting.
Q is a true Q. Pakistani M is kinda hot. BlingPenny isn't annoying.
You could argue that women in power in modern day media is a woke idealogy, however they made M a woman with Judi Dench. Are you not going to watch any Pierce Brosnan Bond movies now?
I disagree with cancel culture, but it works both ways.
While I firmly believe in voting with our wallets, and games like Dragon Age: Veilguard are appalling, I think we should critically analyze each game for ourselves going forward.
Seeing a black MoneyPenny isn't enough reason to boycott this game.
Some people are saying GTA 6 is gonna be woke because it features a woman.
We gotta be careful that we don't become like the radicals we are protesting.

I'll eat my words if so.
However, the feeling I'm getting from it is while they had to check the boxes and fulfill certain initiatives, for the most part they've given us James Bond.
And they let Bond be Bond.

007 First Light has irl product placements, real life actors that are doing motion capture and yet some people here are having a meltdown all because a YouTuber and TikTok creator make a 10-15 second appearance as NPCs which are not even integral to the game's overall story
Have I missed something or are some people getting mad over nothing?

I believe Banjo Tooie is better than Kazooie.
DK64 is a great game.
Shadow is faster than Sonic.

@AussieGamr Probably not, it was never meant to be a Star Fox game and merely got repackaged as such as it moved from N64 to Gamecube. By all accounts their lineup for Xbox was already in the pipeline for Nintendo with the only missing game being Donkey Kong Racing

24 years ago, Nintendo sold Rare to Microsoft.
The studio had literally just finished Star Fox Adventures.
Since then Star Fox has felt like it’s been searching for an identity with experiments, remakes, long gaps, and now another big visual reset.
I’ve always wondered what the series would look like today if Rare had stayed. Adventures was messy, but it had real ambition and a completely different flavour.
Would Star Fox be different today if that sale never happened?
