BREAKING: After the negotiations failed, a source close to Iran's Ghalibaf assesses the war will resume in "the coming hours," with the US expected to conduct "harsh strategic strikes" on Iranian energy and possibly nuclear infrastructure. The Pakistani Army Chief also cancelled his Tehran trip tonight. Iran has stated it would respond by firing hundreds of missiles per day at Gulf energy infrastructure, including water desalination plants, and targeting US bases in the countries that facilitated the attack.

I’ve read 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, 11 - and can recommend them all, but would prefer Christopher Clark’s Sleepwalkers to Guns of August. I would read Anna Karenina first in Tolstoy, and only move on to War and Peace if you liked AK.

I never watched a single episode of the Late Show with Colbert. I am sure I’m one of many millions. So this is nothing like when Johnny Carson retired - that was a national event, people all across the spectrum liked him. This is just a self-important front man going away.

CNN, citing 4 sources, reports that Iran is rebuilding its military-industrial complex faster than the US initially estimated. According to them, Iran has begun restoring it's drone production capabilities, and is replacing missile sites, launchers and production capacity. US intelligence reportedly now estimates that Iran could fully rebuild it's drone attack capabilities within 6 months, exceeding all timeframes.

Iran today claimed regulatory jurisdiction over the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters. The newly defined zone spans from Qeshm Island (Umm Al Quwain, UAE) in the west to Kangan, Iran, and Fujairah, UAE, in the east. Under the new directive, any vessel transiting in this area to pass thru the strait must secure prior coordination & authorization from the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA).

While in Dubrovnik, I had the honor of visiting the Dubrovnik State Archives in beautiful Sponza Palace to view a document from 1776 from the Republic of Ragusa. In the document, a local official writes about how important it would be to establish trade relations with the new republic, the United States of America. 250 years later, as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, trade relations between the United States and Croatia have never been stronger, with over $50 billion in trade deals signed at the Three Seas Initiative. Today, we are full circle, fulfilling the dreams they had 250 years ago. Truly inspiring! #Freedom250
