When onchain agents first took the spotlight in 2024, many of us were incredibly excited about what could be possible, but most shrugged it off as a fad. Indeed, agents weren’t advanced enough to execute complicated tasks that could genuinely provide value to end users.
Now, this revolution is impossible to ignore.
We firmly believe that onchain agents will become a core part of the Trillion Dollar Agentic Economy, and that tokenizing them at the earliest stages will provide huge benefits for their creators and earliest believers.
Namely, tokens represent a distribution layer for agents, for humans and other agents alike. They can also fund themselves incredibly quickly and efficiently using creator fees and other onchain mechanisms.
Today’s update is a v0; it’s there to serve as a bedrock for future updates in this space. So we’re super happy to hear feedback and ideas for what we should build next that can provide value to a) agent developers and b) end users.

I don't fully agree or disagree with your take, I think you present a bunch of fair points. but I think there may be more than meets the eye in terms of the timing of the cashback update & broader market conditions
fyi since the feature rolled out, myself and the team have been analyzing the data and carrying out research from many different kinds of users. there are some interesting insights thus far - both positive and negative
one thing is certain: it was worthwhile running this experiment. the very fact that over 30% of coins deployed are cashback coins proves that a very significant portion of the market likes it. I think we all agree that many devs were overpaid and traders weren't getting a good deal, so it's obvious that some action attempting to balance the incentives was due.
so I still firmly believe that we're heading in the right direction but nonetheless very much open to feedback so our next steps continue to improve the trenches

cashback being stripped from the meta is what's killing the trenches vol these past few weeks
devs with fees
- gave opportunity to new comers to build a port and flow their profits back into the eco-system
- afford dex, ads, run communities and cause activity in CT and on chain
devs are now
- incentivised to bundle extract to the max
- not incentivised to help grow their coins
- not incentivised to find good narratives
- incentivised to fomo larp as much as possible
- no reason to look for narratives to push

(of course devs still did this with stuff with fees but this new update has just sped it up & pushed it to the max)
traders now
- get 300sol split between 1000 people
- are scared to first tx coins due to these piranha devs
- are all complaining about the update they once asked for
- new traders dont get a chance to learn and build their port > get rekt at 5k and leave the trenches for good
the kids who permanently dev'd whilst they still had fees, would at least rotate their large fee wins back into new pairs, graduated, etc. Feeding volume back into the eco-system

News flash they were users, the ones generating revenue for jup to be able to make money off fees to be able to buy back and actually succeed.
Lost the trust of the users, lost a huge amount of future revenue, fooled all the “stakers” into thinking they were the important ones and got them to vote their way.
In a highly competitive market filled with great products, giving away market share over such a small airdrop was the dumbest move in a long time.

after 480,000,000+ $JUP votes were cast, the Net-Zero Emissions proposal has passed with a supermajority in favor (75%)
no more net-new JUP entering circulation. team emissions halted. mercurial sell pressure hedged. jupuary postponed (and snapshot preserved).
this is the most aggressive supply commitment any major token project has made in a while, and we're excited that so many token holders were in support.
i know this wasn’t easy. like any governance process, not everyone got the outcome they wanted.
but every side gave something to the cause here - including the team, the community, and the stakers. that’s what long-term alignment looks like.
now the only thing that matters is what we do next.
no more debates about emissions. no more supply overhang narratives. the excuses are gone. what’s left is execution.
we have things in the pipeline that are going to make this entire debate feel small. you’ll see soon enough.

This is who actually controls the $JUP DAO votes. DAO votes goes live tomorrow. > Airdrop on Feb 28th or bring JUP net emissions to zero. I ran a full estimate of the 800M $JUP staked using the midpoint of each staking range as average per wallet. Power breakdown: 889 wallets Control 60% of total voting weight. 🦈 Sharks + 🐋 Whales. The remaining wallets control 40%. 341k wallets control only 5.5% (out of that 40%) 🦐 Shrimp + 🦀 Crab Know wallet count doesn’t equal voting power. Now the real question: Do you think sharks and whales will vote for new emission (airdrop) that increase circulating supply? 🐬 I’m a Dolphin and i say Option 2. What about you? 🗳️
