Resources successfully completed another 500 ac. of project work on the #CataractRX, NW of Tusayan today. All ignitions have been completed for the day w/work to resume again Friday. Cataract is a 2k-acre broadcast burn across State Trust & private lands designed to reduce overgrown sagebrush to reduce the wildfire risk to nearby communities. Crews have finished ignitions on the #RogersLakeRx, SW of Flagstaff. 160 ac. of State Trust & private lands treated. The goal of the project work was to reduce heavy fuel, incl. dead/downed trees to restore forest health & reduce threat of catastrophic fire. Arizona Forestry planning multiple prescribed fire projects over fall & winter months to reduce the risk of catastrophic fire & provide for healthier forests. In addition, the department will collaborate w/ @AZStateParks to conduct pile burn operations at a handful of state parks. The agency plans to treat approx. 10k acres in RX project work across the state - weather dependent. All RX projects must be approved by @ArizonaDEQ prior to ignitions. Resources are making significant progress w/ cleanup efforts across the Globe-Miami area after last Friday’s catastrophic storm. On Wed. hand crews worked across Icehouse Canyon & Pinal Creek from the Auto Zone to Irene Wash cutting & piling debris. That work conts. again today. More vehicles were located & recovered in Pinal Creek yesterday, NE of the SR 188 & US 60 junction. Tonight, a community meeting is scheduled for 6pm at High Desert Middle School in Globe. Fire restrictions have been lifted in southeast Arizona. For Arizona Forestry that includes State Trust lands w/n Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, Pinal, & Santa Cruz Counties. However, Stage 2 remain in place on State Trust lands across the rest of the state - w/exception of Coconino County - NORTH of the Grand Canyon. North is under Stage 1. #BryceFire: 3,137 ac. & 29% contained. The @NWSTucson has issued another Red Flag warning for parts of eastern and southeastern AZ today to incl. the Bryce Fire. High winds could test containment lines. Crews focused along north/northeast & east flanks of fire strengthening & improving line in advance of incoming winds. There are no pre-evacs or evas. A night division consisting of three engines patrolled the #StrongholdFire's perimeter overnight, incl. w/n the communities on the NE/E sides. Overall fire activity stayed at a minimum w/no add'l growth reported. Fire is 2,138 ac. w/ 22% containment. Today crews cont. going direct in some areas of the fire, incl. on SE side where hotshot crews will hike up on the ridgeline w/n steep, rugged terrain.
