Grrr… himb is angry! To survive the summer heat, the giant rain frog burrows underground. At about 1.8 in (4.5cm) long, it’s the largest of all rain frogs. When threatened, it can blow up like a balloon, intimidating foes with sudden roundness.

Recent California storms have been rough for western monarchs & overwintering sites, with flooding, downed branches & uprooted trees. We anticipate a negative impact on the population, but it’s too soon to quantify. It's lucky this happened in a relatively good year for monarchs.
