@RevZekveld Love that passage. The officers of the church called to serve tables.

Prepping for Sunday here. There is a lot of wisdom to be gleaned from Acts 6:1-7 for the church, for its mercy-ministry, for its offices, for its order. 👍

"And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight." (Acts 1:9) Happy Ascension Day!

“And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread..." (Acts 20:7) Is this why most modern churches gather on the first day of the week, to break bread?

What he's pointing to is not the interpretation of the Bible, it's the forms of the service. Liturgical denominations have these set for the entire year, so it is standardized. Ask 10 priests to interpret 1 Corinthians 11 or Romans 9-11 and I think you'll find discrepancies.

He said he feels like he’s been lied to. Then he went to 5 different Catholic churches… And got the exact same teaching every time. That’s when it hit him. Watch.

Visible Christianity is the profession of faith in Jesus, baptism in His name, and communion at His table. Baptism joins us to His body, and communion is how we fellowship in His body. How we interact with these visible things, which only occur where Christians are gathered, is an indication of our invisible status.

"They wish that you would disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that you may be on the same level. So do not choose friends from them until they migrate in the way of Allah, if they turn back, then take them and kill them wherever you find them..." Quran, Surah 4:89

"What fundamentally destroyed licensure was the suspicion that it was an expression of favor rather than competence. A license was useful as a means of establishing authority only if it was accepted as evidence of objective skill. But the belief that medical societies and boards of censors were merely closed corporations, like the banks and monopolies, utterly subverted their value as agencies of legitimation."

This was the early 19th century perspective toward medicine...nothing new under the sun.

It is a basic tenant of the Christian faith that men and women are co-heirs of salvation and both made in the imago Dei. Therefore, according to the Bible, men and women enjoy ontological equality.

Qur'an, Sura 2 "...there is an aspect to the warfare enjoined by the Qur'an that is not purely defensive...if Muslims must fight until unbelief does not exist, the mere presence of unbelief constitutes sufficient aggression to allow for the beginning of hostilities." - Spencer

1. The NT pattern is that the heads of household profess faith and are baptized with their entire family (Acts 10, 16, 18) = oikobaptism. 2. This never abrogated OT pattern also included the eating of the sacrifices (Deut 12:5-7, 1 Cor 10:3-4). 3. Profession of faith is not *necessarily* a sign of election. Children of believers are naturally raised "in the Lord" and taught to profess faith in Jesus. Therefore, they ought to be baptized as a sign of God's promise to them (Acts 2:39, Romans 4:11).

Why all the sudden are all these people in the presby orbit making such a deal about infant baptism? Was there a memo that went out or something? Like I get we disagree, that’s established, But why are so many making it the thing right now?
