💫Congratulations to Irondequoit HS seniors Gianna Geesler and Sara LeVesque! They have received DECA’s Emerging Leader Honor Award - a national recognition! It honors students studying marketing, finance, hospitality and management and being academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible and experienced leaders through participation in DECA. Recipients must be a DECA member in their senior year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better for each of the high school semesters and completed experiences in a wide variety of leadership areas. DECA is a career and technical student organization that prepares young leaders and entrepreneurs with a career interest in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. It enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition. DECA student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. @IrondequoitDECA

👍Sixty-eight West Irondequoit students were among 500 competitors last weekend at the Region 14 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament hosted by Rush-Henrietta, and six teams from four of our schools earned a spot in the State Finals on March 21 in Syracuse! They’re from: 🔹Irondequoit HS (2 teams) 🔹Dake Jr. HS (1) 🔹Iroquois MS (2) 🔹Rogers MS (1) Five other teams across the district also gave outstanding performances. Whether or not teams “placed,” they all gained valuable skills and had rewarding experiences in OM over the last six months. The “OMERs” and district extend our thanks to the coaches and advisors who are invaluable in guiding the teams throughout their Odyssey adventure! (Thank you also for the great pictures)! #2 Irondequoit whittled what was a 16-point first-half hole down to six in the fourth quarter but #3 Victor prevailed 70-61 in the Section V Class AA1 boys basketball semifinals at Fairport. The Eagles end the season at 16-6. IHS trailed by 7 at halftime after Maurice Clark's buzzer-beating basket and 8 headed to the fourth - much different than a 30-point regular season loss at Victor. Junior point guard Roman Maldonado led the Eagles with 15 points, Maurice added 11 points and 13 rebounds, senior Anthony Major had 8 points and 11 rebounds and junior Tahmaj Pope added 10 points off. Thank you, seniors, for your dedication to the program!

⭐️CONGRATS! Five athletes who reached the state championships in their respective sports for IHS this winter were celebrated with a parade through the halls of the school this afternoon. Unfortunately, one could not attend. Senior downhill ski ace Max Spitz was out of town. The others: sophomore wrestlers, Luci Hawn and Amelia Macauley; seventh-grade Nordic skier Charlie Principe and sophomore runner, MaryGrace Roj, who is the only one still competing. She leaves Friday to compete in the Indoor Track and Field State Championships on Staten Island (1,000 meters). Congrats to all and good luck, MG!

Five Iroquois Middle School students received the Rochester Police Department's "DO THE RIGHT THING" Award today for their amazing work raising money for four different cancer associations! Sophia, Mya, Londyn, Raquel and Jonas were nominated by their teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Gottfried, for their efforts during Gottfried’s annual Stand-Up Project in 2024-25. The Project's purpose is to recognize the power of the student voice, empower students to discover their passion, encourage them to use their voice and fight for change. Our district has immense pride for the work done each year via the Stand-Up Project by Mrs. Gottfried and her students. Congratulations Sophia, Mya, Londyn, Raquel and Jonas! Your hard work and team work is a great example for all! READ MORE: westirondequoit.org/default-board-…

He was partnered with two other Section V skiers - Max Carson (Mendon) & Will Dziedzic (Fairport). Charlie was 34th in the classic race (individual) yesterday. What a great way to start his career! The IHS hockey team recently wrapped up its participation with Gliding Stars, a learn-to-skate program for children & adults with various disabilities. Thank you to Alison Tuff for the great picture gallery! Gliding Stars gives skaters with disabilities the opportunity to work on basic skating skills and perform a show at the end of the season. The 4th-seeded Eagles travel to Webster Schroeder to face the #1 Warriors in Wednesday’s 7 p.m. Section V Class B hockey tournament semifinals. Good luck!
