Call me when you print a 17 cm, 8-million-poly figurine at this quality, in one single piece, with no kit parts. Then we can compare and actually have that conversation. Also, this is just a matter of preference, but I like the FX. It gives the piece an effect I could not have dreamed of if I had tried to create it intentionally. My intentional choice was to keep it, not to “fix” the resin parameters. A happy accident, as Bob Ross would say. You might understand that if you actually made art and had judgment or taste. After a lot of use, some of the teeth along the edge of a blade can become deformed, chipped, rounded, or uneven. What you see behind it is literally an FX trail from the wheel, meant to create a sense of movement. Yes, it is a pure piece of art with vitality, not some robotic preference for corporate square slop. Absolute craftsmanship done by hand, with a lot of soul.

很多次我都討厭畫不好的我自己 但是我可能慢慢能理解 用自己有限的知識堆疊出來的成品雖然笨拙可是有溫度 我可能比不上AI,甚至一輩子都比不上 但是每畫完一張圖,那個滿足感,會讓我誰都不想比較 是屬於我自己的moment

I get that, but the skills it's replacing are slowly becoming not needed or hirable. I'm not saying immediately today, espeically for game models/animations/systems. But in media/commerce the speed we are expected to execute is inhuman now that AI is here I get totally rejecting it

I keep getting asked why I don't like genAI. I mean there's a lot of reasons, most of which are the usual talking points against it. But on a personal level, it lacks the dopamine hit I get from putting effort into something and seeing the result. I don't feel empowered by it. Like the whole point of using new tools that speed up workflow is to give you more control as well as the ability to create more complex things in less time by minimizing *technical* friction. Automating retopo or UVs in a way that doesn't make the mesh worse is minimizing technical friction. Generating a mesh isn't a technical issue, it's a skill issue. It's the same thing programmers are facing with vibe coding. The more you prompt, the more your skills take a hit. Skills only improve by doing the work, and the less reliant we are on that, the worse we get as artists.
