@mattworkman My lil man, people make shorts/movies on phones, and people make games on pc's that people throw in the trash, being able to afford the hardware isnt whats stopping people from being creative
English

people who “hate Gen AI” may not realize that most filmmakers cannot afford a cinema camera, lens, 4x lights, and grip equipment to make a shot that looks 1/10 as good as a 10 cent Gen AI shot
I’m a die hard live action cinematographer in my heart, but I know the math
I’ve also worked in 3D/Games for a long time and it’s similar that most can’t afford the computer hardware and lack access to the training to make again shots that looks 1/100 as good as the sloppiest AI gen image
Consumer and gamer takes on this issue, I ignore. People in production see the state of live action production AND in 3D/VFX business and can also do math
English

@kommanderkarl @J_Lee_Design you are not the target for what I do here on X
English

@mattworkman @J_Lee_Design Yeah that’s a good point. Glad we could both walk away from this respectfully lol
English

@mattworkman I guess my parting shot is this, don't help capital owners exploit you. large companies can afford to pay for production costs, in fact it's in their long term interest to do so. the more we enable degradation of our work for a bottom line the more capital owners will exploit us.
English

@mattworkman A working cinematographer doing the maths in public. The loudest voices in this debate rarely have skin in the game.
English

@TheoMediaAI best creative model, no competitors even close. None. Zero.
English

Playing around with Midjourney v8-- namely trying out our "Female Cyberpunk Assassin w/ Short Red Hair" in a few different styles.
Lots of hot takes on MJv8a wonk-- and, sure I'm getting it too-- but I think the important part to remember: It's an Alpha.
This is pretty typical MJ. Alpha is always the playground to get adjusted to the new model. I'm gonna keep messing with it to see what I can pull out.

English

I do “human made” and Gen AI “art” every day. Gen AI will be considered the same as CG/VFX in the next few years.
I take issue with the Nolan’s and big game studios saying Gen AI is bad. Sure it’s bad to the budget of THE OYDSSEY and GTA6. But it’s REALLY good compared to what most solo and small teams can produce.
English

@mattworkman AI slop is slop no matter how much you glaze it. It is just non-deterministic statistics machine at its core, and paying for rolling the dice is much painful than the human approach, which is more deterministic
And I speak as someone who run my own AI instance locally
English

@johnwildauer Yeah so basically that won’t work if the mannequin head is so non descript. That is my point.
English

AI for editing I don’t see the vision. But CapCut and Resolve and I assume soon FCPX will be testing stuff.
I find Gen AI lovely. I can go from thought to visual that moves and talks in less than an hour. What a dream.
I get paid for VERY tedious 3D work still and I’m on live action shoots every week. And I’m constantly comparing in my head how I’d use AI to do the same job.
English

@mattworkman It's way overhyped, imho. But I see where you're coming from. I'm an editor, tv mainly. I do limited motion design. AI has been a huge disappointment for me. It's not that much cheaper, it's buggy & it seems to want to take over aspects I love to do instead of the mundane stuff.
English

ehh I semi trying to rage people here, I like your videos. Nothing to change there.
BUUTTT your's would require some careful first frame / last frame heavy guidance. Could be done, but the whole point is that it's real world objects. If we go full AI then it's just the video games that you are riffing off of
English

@mattworkman @J_Lee_Design Hey, even if I don’t care for generative AI, not opposed to you having fun with my videos. Could potentially give me some good conceptual ideas if it actually turns out.
English

I have kids they hate AI. But I also work in production and it's swinging heavily into gen AI for economic and some cases creative reasons.
I am on more live action shoots and 3D professional projects than most people on X.
That is why I'm saying gen AI is the economic solution for many projects
English

@mattworkman all good things are. if you have kids and love them you'll know what I mean. shortcuts are for momentary problems, not the solution to your life's work/worth/meaning.
English

@mattworkman @J_Lee_Design Yeh, again I tried because I was curious and it sucked ass. I don’t use or need generative AI for my work, so I’m not familiar with proper prompting
English

@mattworkman This is like saying if a producer doesnt have the most expensive mastering suite plugins then they cant produce music.
Techniques and principles allow ppl to improvise with budget gear, and that charm and improvisation becomes part of an artist's signature B4 they upgrade.
English

@beagewill I've lived that entire career arc, I know. But your post honestly just proves my point that it's expensive and time consuming.
English

@mattworkman it's called renting equipment. Planning and budgeting. Having a network of friends you can rely on to help you. Also, start small. Use your iPhone. Create with your mind *and* physical body, it's so much better and leads to discovery, new stories and fond memories.
English

@andorade yeah I'm basically having to do that, I could also make a blendshape sculpt etc or attach another head to the bone, but I'm just saying if UE6 is going to be AI forward we need to update the mannequin or make one specifically for AI image models
English

@mattworkman Maybe by modifying the texture to add eyes, eyebrows, and a smile? lol
English

FORTNITE x NANO BANANA collab dropping soon!
Peely is the natural new mascot for Nano Banana :)
I saw that Google and Epic Games settled their lawsuit and I immediately thought of UEFN getting a Google Nano Banana integration for developers.
It's already evident that Google has trained on the millions of Fortnite videos out there.
English

@mattworkman No problem, AI-tard…I love the fact that you keep defending AI slop…good for you.
