@TinyWriterLaura Add in the fact that you can have several conditions with varying symptoms, but then have brand new symptoms that have zero to do with what you've already been diagnosed with - but medics often want to link it to what you already have, because there can't possibly be MORE!

we may silo healthcare into neat little sections but the body is a whole interconnected organism, and if something goes wrong (and remains untreated for a long time) in one area it will inevitably cause more conditions downstream of the original issue

i’m always surprised people are surprised that disabled people often have multiple conditions but i think it has to do with how we silo healthcare. people think ‘oh a brain problem so you see neurology’ and then don’t follow through with the idea that the brain impacts the body

Basically “I’m sorry you feel bad but I stand by what I’ve said and blame a document for my appalling views.” But I do love the claim that she’s using language from a report: “If I’m going down in taking everyone down with me…!”

This is from a school local to me. Friends’ kids go here. I’m not sure I’d have done them the courtesy of anonymising it, seeing as they think it’s on to put on their website. TLDR, teacher shortages caused by special needs kids.

I would say the only thing that has slightly improved on acute wards since my first admission in the '90s is not being in a dorm. Additionally, sexual abuse by staff members is now more likely to eventually be condemned by another staff member.

@cllrhelencliff @PolitlcsUK I know! I actually sort of like this guy. It's such a shame that we didn't see more of this before - although I still abhor most of his policies, so voting wise it wouldn't have changed anything. But he's actually coming across as human for the first time in his visible career.

@RachelCDailey Or something that is a necessity, like my husband's wheelchair that he had to buy off eBay because he isn't eligible for an NHS one, so that he could retain his independence. And that's the issue - it's PERSONAL independence payment i.e. not identical for everyone...
