My baby brother had an accident in December. His dad (he's my half-brother, same mother) called a friend of his Dr. Paul Dogo to ask the bestq hospital to take my brother to be treated on emergency.
I spent the night with him at the hospital.
Alhamdulillah, nothing major went wrong with him so we left the next day.
On our way back home to drop me, we stopped at Dr. Paul Dogo's house.
Dr. Paul said that he served as a commissioner for health during Mallam's first tenure, and he never knew him before then.
That he was randomly minding his business, he got a call from Mallam asking him to come serve under his administration.
He said Mallam was the only politician he knows that would ask you to come work with him without knowing you directly, because he deems you qualified.
Dr. Paul said that before he left, they designed a plan for Doka Hospital to be converted to a trauma center especially due to the amount of road accidents that occur on the Abuja-Kaduna road.
He left during the 1st tenure so has no idea why the project didn't take off.
My brother couldn't get any real medical help there. He instead paid the ambulance of the Road Safety to take him to the hospital in Kaduna suggested by Dr. Paul.
I wasn't at all surprised about that.
Mallam is first of all a technocrat, then politician. As such, quality beats familiarity in every situation.
