The choice of this world is bloom filters, but the fact that Bloom filters are still not the perfect solution (since they may come up with some false positives) still keeps open the area of evolution 🧙‍♂️and a path to invent even better solution to this basic problem.

This evolution if you want to checkout looks like 1. Query to DB - [Perf Bottle-neck] 2. Key-value in Redis - [memory is finite] 3. Tries - [faster, prefix-support, but same problem] 4. B Trees - [scalable, and, fast] 5. Bloom-filters - [fast & efficient non-exising key search]

Its quite amazing that just for a simple thing like checking whether the user-name you're creating while signing up already exists or not has so much implementations and trade-offs to consider. Even solution to smaller problems needs gradual evolution, and essense of engineering.

Is it just me or "code deletions" just gives way more chills than "additions"?
