At the Strengthening Digital Resilience for CSOs, HRDs, Journalists, and Content Creators Workshop in Nakuru, participants explored this critical concept to help them create and share content responsibly online. 🔴 Misinformation —false or inaccurate information shared by someone who genuinely believes it to be true. 🔵 Disinformation — deliberately false information, crafted and spread specifically to manipulate. 🟣 Malinformation — based on truth but taken out of context or exaggerated to mislead. All three circulate on the same platforms and can cause real harm. Understanding these distinctions helps participants decide how to respond responsibly @KICTANet @BakeKenya @Internews @UNESCO @FECoMo_Kenya #KenSafeSpace

Safety Tips During Floods from the @KenyaRedCross ⛑️ 🔸Always evacuate to higher ground and turn off electricity if your house is flooded. 🔸Just 6 inches of water can knock you down, 1 foot can sweep your car away. 🔸Avoid flooded bridges and stay updated with local news. 🚨

In 2020, I enrolled in the Kenya School of Internet Governance KeSIG by @KICTANet at a time when I was already working in digital space. What I gained was perspective. It reshaped how I analyze social media platforms. I began to see them not simply as engagement tools, but as governance arenas influenced by regulation, data protection frameworks, and multistakeholder decision making. That systems level understanding continues to shape how I approach digital strategy and policy conversations today. Whether you are in • Academia • Business • Civil Society • Government • Media • The Technical Community • Or a Student Internet governance affects your work directly or indirectly. If you want to move from participating in the digital space to understanding and shaping it, consider applying for KeSIG 2026. 📅 Program dates 22nd April to 15th May 2026 ⏳ Deadline 10th April 2026 👉 Apply here bit.ly/kesig-2026-app… #KeSIG2026

Love in the digital age is powerful, but so are the words that can harm. KICTANet presents Open Hearts, Open Mic: The Language of Love (and Not), a dynamic one-hour webinar exploring how language shapes our digital intimacies. While affectionate words and playful slang bring us closer, the same expressions can also perpetuate Technology Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). This interactive “Open Mic” session will immerse participants in how love, courtship, conflict, and abuse are linguistically constructed in local languages and Gen-Z slang. Building on KICTANet’s research Unmasking the Trolls and its curated multilingual lexicons in Kiswahili, Luo, Gikuyu, Luhya, Ateso, and Somali, the discussion will reveal how words can both heal and harm in our online spaces. Featuring speakers from KICTANet, GIZ, and Gen-Z creators, the webinar will spotlight evolving digital language trends, share cross-sector insights, and spark meaningful dialogue on respectful online engagement. Our first speaker will be Cherie Oyier, Programs Officer – Women’s Digital Rights, KICTANet. Join us as we bridge generational and cultural gaps, identify harmful speech patterns, and explore practical strategies for building safer digital communities. 🔗 Register here: us06web.zoom.us/meeting/regist… Visit our website: kictanet.or.ke/webinar-open-h… #LoveWithoutHarm, #SaferDigitalSpaces, #WordsMatterOnline ^NM

Do you see anything wrong with the signage? We seriously need to talk about how inaccessible supermarkets are to Persons with Disabilities in Kenya. No matter how independent you think you are, you will always need assistance to shop successfully as a PWD, I’ve learned the hard way, seen dust without seeing. After all the madness of going through the aisles which is a sport, you find yourself on the queue for paying and other shoppers stare at you for being in a separate lane as if you are being given preferential treatment. Good thing i can’t see the stares but it’s an uncomfortable situation for the people aiding us. Let’s agree, we are not ‘People of determination.’ I know it’s an attempt at Inclusion but appropriation is important and language speaks a lot.
