He was the first black Chief but only served for 5 years from 1998-2003 and Assistant Chief during the OKC Bombing. In that time, Berry dismissed all requests to reopen the death case of OKC Bombing first responder, Sgt. Terrance Yeakey and was in charge during the GlitterDome scandal (1999) where a bartender at the Fraternal Order of Police after hours club claimed she was drugged and r*p*ed by officers. The disgraced captain at the center of the case died of a cardiac arrest in his home shortly after the lawsuit was dismissed. Even before Sgt. Yeakey's death, Yeakey had a distrust of then Asst. Chief Berry for leaving officers exposed to personal liability for upper brass decisions as well as his silence on the OKC Bombing investigation.
