Throughout his service, @ProfIsaPantami earned several commendations from his principal and boss, the late Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, in recognition of his dedication and contributions to national development. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

Watching @ProfIsaPantami on TVC News today was another reminder that competence, courage, and clarity still matter in leadership. Calm, articulate, principled, and deeply informed, a voice of reason in a time when many avoid hard truths. Gombe and Nigeria are proud of you, sir.

WHEN POLITICAL PROPAGANDA COLLIDES WITH PUBLIC FACTS Some individuals have deliberately twisted @ProfIsaPantami's comments during his interview on TVC News in a desperate attempt to manufacture a false political narrative. The issue itself was simple and very clear. Professor Pantami was asked why he transferred his voter’s card from Gombe to Abuja while serving in government. In response, he explained that during the 2023 General Elections, he was engaged in a national assignment connected to Nigeria’s cybersecurity operations and the protection of critical digital infrastructure. Since those official responsibilities required his active presence in Abuja at the time, he lawfully transferred his PVC through INEC’s established process and later moved it back to Gombe after completing the assignment. That action was legal, transparent, and fully within the framework of Nigeria’s electoral laws. Unfortunately, some people deliberately jumped from “cybersecurity supervision” to “election manipulation” simply to push propaganda and mislead the public. Facts must matter. During the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Federal Government officially disclosed that Nigeria recorded over 12.9 million cyber-attacks between February 24 and February 27, 2023. Again, during the Governorship and State Assembly elections, over 3.8 million cyber-attacks were recorded between March 17 and March 20, 2023. These figures were publicly released through official government channels and widely reported by credible media organisations. At the time, Professor Pantami was the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy. Part of the constitutional responsibilities attached to that office included supporting the protection of Nigeria’s cyberspace and critical national digital infrastructure during sensitive national activities, including elections. This responsibility was not self-assigned. It was backed by existing laws and statutory mandates. Section 5 and Section 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria empower the Executive arm of government to assign and coordinate national responsibilities through ministries and agencies. The Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 also provides legal backing for the protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure against cyber threats and attacks. In addition, the NITDA Act and the Nigerian Communications Commission framework provide statutory responsibilities relating to cybersecurity, ICT regulation, and digital infrastructure protection. The Electoral Act 2022 equally allows relevant government institutions and agencies to provide lawful technical support where necessary during elections. Cybersecurity monitoring simply means detecting, preventing, and responding to cyber threats against national digital systems. It does not mean access to alter votes or manipulate election results. Those are completely different responsibilities handled by different institutions. By the same faulty reasoning now being pushed by critics, security agencies deployed to polling units should also be accused of rigging elections simply because they provided security coverage. The reality remains that every serious country protects its cyberspace during elections because cyber threats are real. Professor Pantami’s statement on TVC News was clearly about national duty, cybersecurity responsibility, and lawful public service, not election manipulation. Unfortunately, some individuals have chosen to ignore publicly available facts and weaponise a simple interview response for political attacks. For public verification and reference purposes, official statements and credible media reports regarding the cybersecurity operations and reported cyber-attacks during the 2023 elections will be dropped in the comments section.
