Don’t let the media and rival fans gaslight you. We’ve literally had a goal cancelled for the same thing before.

One of the biggest headaches I face in a business I’m currently involved in is seeing people sell the same product at prices nearly 30% lower than my production cost. The truth is, I know my production process may not be as cost-effective as it could be. But one hill I’m willing to die on is this: no one can genuinely produce this product 30% cheaper than I do and still run a healthy business. So how are they surviving, and why do their businesses still appear to be running successfully? Some of them simply don’t care whether the business is profitable. Some have other thriving businesses covering the losses. Some have deep pockets and poor financial discipline, so they don’t realize the losses are quietly eating into their capital. Some know they’re losing money but just want something to keep them busy while relatives abroad fund their lifestyle. Some women even have wealthy husbands they can fall back on after losing their capital. The bottom line is this: there are many attractive businesses that wealthy people you admire are involved in, but those businesses will never make you rich because they never made those people rich in the first place. Do your research. Do the math. Ask yourself whether it truly adds up. If it doesn’t, walk away. Don’t give yourself false hope or allow yourself to be deceived.

I watched this game at the Officers’ Mess in Kano during service. I can’t even begin to describe my emotional state after it. It was the second time I cried after a football match. We had planned a whole concert for the celebration! I’ve cried three times; Arsenal vs Valencia (we lost 2–1) Arsenal vs Newcastle United (ended 4–4) Arsenal vs Barcelona 2006 Champions League Final. I cried on the bike ride back home.
