One of the biggest struggles I have as an #academicmom is keeping my mind focused on the role I’m in at that particular moment. When play legos with my kids my mind on work, and when I’m writing, I’m frequently thinking about what needs to be done at home. Any advice?

@MonicaOReillyJ1 Chores seem to be an ll day event in my house 😂 but I get what you’re saying 😊

@AcademicMomLife block out your time in you calendar: "writing," "chores," etc.....but chores or play can be good thinking time, especially if you can let yourself relax. Nothing wrong with an epiphany during legos!

@Cheriewoolmer Self-discipline to avoid email is a skill I need to develop!

@shostevs This is a good idea - I have work email on my phone and that does seem to distract me from what is going on at home.

@thephdstory Also, that sucks. Know that you are worthy and something better will come along - hopefully sooner than later!

@thephdstory This happened to me a few years ago. Now that I’m on hiring committees, I’m even more baffled by university hiring decisions.

THEY ARE HIRING NOBODY AND REOPENING THE SEARCH for the TT job. 2 weeks later and they STILL haven’t officially notified us. WTF!!!! #AcademicTwitter
