This week is Sign Language Week! A time to celebrate British Sign Language, raise awareness of Deaf culture, and recognise the importance of accessible communication. At the University of Wolverhampton, we're incredibly proud of our Deaf community, from our BSL courses and research to our support of @Deaffest - a dedicated festival supporting and developing the talents of emerging and established D/deaf filmmakers and artists from the UK and around the globe. The international Deaf Film & Arts Festival returns to Wolverhampton, UK, from May 8th to 10th 2026, exploring the influence of costume and fashion in film, TV and the arts, alongside the renowned 10th Film & TV Awards celebrations ➡️ deaffest.co.uk

Young carers become young adult carers and deserve the chance to go to university. @wlv_uni is working with @CarersFedNews and @LearnWorkUK on the #DrivingChange #YoungAdultCarers project. We want to improve the support we offer to students who are carers. #YoungCarersActionDay

This Thursday is #UniMentalHealthDay. An annual day to get the nation talking about student mental health and working together to make mental health a university-wide priority. On Tuesday 27th January, Wolverhampton will come together to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day at an event organised by the City of Wolverhampton Council and Interfaith Wolverhampton. Congratulations to our @wlv_sport Gym, @WlvChaplaincy and School of Nursing on organising a fantastic charity collection of food and clothing this festive season. Through “Bring Your Own Cans” fitness classes and generous donations from our university and local community, over 300 meals have been provided to those in need. Donations were shared with students staying on campus over Christmas via the Students’ Union, and delivered to St Martin’s Church and Black Country Foodbank.

🎥 Thank you to those who joined us at St Peter's Church yesterday for our University Carol service. Students, staff and the local community came together to enjoy a meaningful afternoon of carols, tradition and reflection as we approach the Christmas period.
