@HipHopNumbers Diabolical. Tbh Good Kid Madd City is better than TPAB, but neither are top 15 or even 30. This is a prisoner of the moment Post. There is no best rap album IMO. It's all relative. It's all based on the era it came out and where people are in their lives at that time.

This might be the worst leak I’ve ever seen. I feel devastated for the studio. Such a staggering beautiful film. If you worked on this, please know, your talents should be marvelled.

Traditionalism in hip-hop must die. Too many great artists get overlooked because ppl can’t let go of what they think rap is supposed to sound like. Make your one-minute songs. Go drumless. Drop hook-less records. Go against the grain. Hip-hop is a nonconformist art form

My first thoughts on POMPEII // UTILITY by Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE & Surf Gang: if you didn’t think Earl and MIKE could rap over any beat possible before this album, here’s your sample size. we just got 33 songs of elite rapping from two of the games best over some of the most disgusting beats from Surf Gang. the more experimental the beats get, the more experimental their flows got. the production maintains a constant euphoric state throughout both discs that perfectly complimented their laid back deliveries and tones. this isn’t a surprise to earl or mike fans who’ve seen them rap over more trap inspired production on albums like Sick! and Pinball 1/2. this is something that was bound to happen and it blew my expectations out of the water. this is simply a great project where filler is scarce and variety is immense. there’s vibey drumless beats that you can float to, then there’s the hardest beats you’ve heard all year you can max out the subs in your car to. my only complaints about this album is that songs are too short, especially Tampering, i needed that song to be longer, and i would’ve liked more songs with both Earl and MIKE but i think the double album concept is also cool. Earl giving MIKE the first disc is the ultimate co-sign cause he knows all of his fanbase or reach will have to listen to MIKE’s first which will get him more fans and listeners. Top 3 on Pompeii: Man of the month, The Pope, Tampering Top 3 on UTILITY: :( again :), Ew!, React/Tour de France 8-9/10

Completely obsessed with this video of an 'Israeli' running into lamppost because she's overly preoccupied filming a selfie video fleeing to a bunker for Instagram victimhood points. It's such a perfect encapsulation of Zionist entity settler colonial 'society'. In six seconds.

One thing I don’t think Cole detractors understand is that he fits a very specific lane for his listeners that Drake & Kendrick do not serve: the appeal to the everyday person. Yes, all 3 artists have songs that do that but Cole does that on every single album and to a higher level. His fans do not care if Kendrick has more depth conceptually or if Drake puts out more hits, Cole fits a third lane that combines the commerciality with the concepts and delivers it from the perspective of a man willing to drive across the country to show how grateful he is to his fans - you can’t say that about the other 2. This is not to say you can’t prefer the other 2 (music is subjective!) but I think it’s completely wrong to view his legacy in terms of how he compares to his peers because he’s established a separate lane for himself and will be looked at as one of the greatest rappers ever regardless of what Kendrick and Drake do
Kurrco@Kurrco

Billboard's Carl Lamarre on J. Cole's legacy after 'The Fall-Off': “Cole’s legacy at the time of what he’s billing as this final LP feels unresolved... The biggest question down the road won’t be how good J. Cole was; it’s how rap’s middle child fared against his long-time rivals and peers.” "Even when Cole tasted victory, Kendrick and Drake reclaimed the crown, reminding him where he stood in rap’s hierarchy. This became the story of Cole’s career against his lyrical adversaries: always good, but never quite great enough." “Cole may never win the Big 3 debate, but surviving, thriving and always staying in the conversation might be an even greater accomplishment.”
