The regime in Iran can't be negotiated with anymore. It consists of several factions, all currently fighting for power. Only one of these factions (Ghalibaf, Araghchi) is willing to talk with Trump, the rest want this faction gone and probably dead. Trump is likely starting to realise the "regime change" wasn't a regime change at all. Not only that - the people he's negotiating with don't have any decision making power at all. What else can he do but destroy them all together? Maybe on some level he's beginning to remember why he went into Iran in the first place - to help the Iranian people currently beint mass executed and arrested under the ceasefire and blackout. Now, his only option is to eliminate EVERY SINGLE regime figure because they have proven impossible to deal with. Which by the way will be a lot easier now that all the IRGC freaks and the mullahs came out of their holes and can be easily tracked. These leaks of Supreme Court confidential deliberations have to stop. 1) The Obama Clean Power Plan was a legal abomination, which is why we killed it in Trump 45, after the Supreme Court wisely stayed that plan in 2016. I was on the front lines of defending the replacement rule — the ACE Rule (the Affordable Clean Energy Rule). I’d have argued that case in the DC Circuit, if there were not other pressing matters at the end of 2020 and had I not taken over the Civil Division as well in September 2020. 2) These leaks are happening because the Left hates that Chief Justice Roberts knows their tune. Starting in the Clinton Administration but really taking off with environmental radicals in the Obama Administration, the Left took climate change alarmism to epic proportions and basically leaned how to hold a gun to industry’s head, raising the stakes to astronomical levels if they challenged environmental regulations (then backed by the now-defunct Chevron deference) and wound up losing. This caused industry in many cases to cave to stupid and incredibly damaging environmental regulation, so they could stay on the good side of the Obama-ites. The Chief saw this game of extortion and acted to stop to it with the quick 5-4 stay of the Clean Power Plan, launching howls from people like Professor Vladeck about “shadow dockets,” which makes it sound like the Supreme Court conservatives cook up dark necromancy in ancient cauldrons, when all they are doing is applying a standard 4-part equitable test and not delaying relief for so long that cases challenging massive regulations become effectively moot. 3) Will the DC Bar open a sua sponte deep investigation to find the leakers? The leaking Supreme Court clerks have violated ethics rules five ways to Sunday. But don’t hold your breath. The leaking clerks are on the Left and they get to act with impunity because DC is a one-party town. Furthermore, don’t hold the reporters to be innocents here. The same paper that will use leaks like this to promote their leftist agenda by suborning ethical violations, will happily endorse weaponized bar recommendations against lawyers associated with President Trump, even ones like me who defend privilege and confidentiality. The Left’s lack of legal ethics means nothing to the New York Times. 4) To take a step back, this is all yet another manifestation of the two-tiered standard of justice.
