Can anyone beat a firm owner doing 4500 chargeable hours? 6am to 9pm M-Sat and 1/2 a day on Sunday (unless they need to catch up….).

There is a shortage of CPA's and EA's. Public Accounting is currently 25% understaffed. I expect the industry to become further understaffed in the next five years. We have talked to potential new clients who have told us that we are the 18th CPA firm they called and the only one who would even talk to them. Of course prices are going up, and will continue to go up. CPA's and EA's cannot handle their current work loads and everyone should expect prices to continue to increase 10% a year. Further, since the industry is so understaffed many people in the profession are significantly overworked. Many people are fleeing public accounting which makes everything worse.

It seems as if there is a shortage of CPAs. My CPA and several others I know are not taking on new clients. Is anyone else seeing this?

@mattbanker Firms should always be looking for talent. It doesn’t necessarily arrive just when you need it!

• Your Careers page is obviously less important if you're not hiring. • We recommend using the Storybrand Brandscript + Wireframe framework to help write your home page. • Blog can be good, but write it yourself or don't do it. Don't use duplicate content from a CPA marketer

@seattle_tax Nothing worse than referring your client to another professional only for them to get smashed on fees.
