This is it! My new book is here 🥳🥳🥳 The Penguin Club is a love letter through the lens of a sweet teenage boy. Lost love between adults, childhood crushes, children navigating dysfunctional homes… It’s so beautiful!🥹

You see parents who told their children, "you can go and die, I have other children", and think they are being strict. Your child will remember it on quiet day in the middle of a random day at work, years after you forgot moments you lacked emotional regulation.

My papa flog my junior brother wetin no good after he refused to do the dishes, he packed some few clothes into a big black polythene bag and told us he’s leaving the family. My papa just didn’t mind him, he changed his mind and went to the roof top of the building to commit….

The unfittingness of submitting your life to the court of public opinion has no inkling on gender. It has never favoured the goose, nor the gander.

A group of people are deemed "powerful" because they can constitute bottlenecks during burials or weddings over variations in the brand of malt offered to them.

I had an aunt who never tolerated problems in the family. If a child was going astray, she showed up. If husband and wife were fighting, she traveled even interstate just to settle it. If someone was sick, she was there. If there was confusion, she called meetings. If a child was misbehaving, she prayed, corrected, guided, and carried them like her own. She was the glue. But few years back, we lost her. And now… her own children are struggling. The same woman who fought for everyone else’s home is no longer here to fight for hers. The father isn’t strong enough to carry the weight alone. The support she gave others, her own children are not getting it from anyone. Even as I type this, I feel guilty. How did we get here? Here’s the harsh reality truth: Nobody! and I repeat, nobody can raise, protect, mentor, and fight for your children the way you can. People may try. Relatives may promise. Family may mean well. But when you’re gone, the difference shows. It’s painful. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s real. Take care of your children. Build them strong while you’re alive. Because when the pillar falls, the house shakes.

1. Went primarily for the knowledge so I needed no external motivation, I was excited to learn every single course. 2. I learnt time compartmentalization. 3. I singlehandedly saw myself through the degree, I knew any failure meant extra year and extra schoolfees 😃

@Achalugo Huge Congratulations, Chioma! Balancing Momx3, a 9–5 legal role, writing, classes, and panels to finish with a 4.02 is truly inspiring—God really outdid! 🙌 Please Ma, how did you manage such an incredible feat and still come out with such an excellent grade?

Everything can be learnt if you put your mind to it. I humbled myself and relearnt maths from secondary school syllabus, picked up Accountancy and self taught myself with books and Youtube, read endlessly even beyond school material. Keep likeminded friends!
